Guest guest
Hi Heidi, I have suffered with daily mild to severely painful angioedema for the past 5 yrs. However, I also have daily hives. Usually my hives don't itch but once in awhile they will itch at night. I quit taking antihistamines some time ago, but will take 2 Zyrtec if they itch too badly. For the angioedema I have been on high doses of Prednisone for these 5 yrs, but since it no longer gives me much relief, I am almost weaned from it now. The angio swells my eyes, and sometimes eyeballs (they turn blood red), lips, cheeks, tongue, hands, fingers, knee joints, bottoms of feet. Fingers swell to almost bursting. Usually the hives I get on my legs burn when touched by clothing or if I scratch them. I get large knots on my scalp and forehead. Occasionally I also get delayed pressure urticaria, and at times can cause welts by simply scratching. This condition has changed my life drastically, and my Dr told me to apply for disability. I did almost 3 yrs ago, but have yet to be approved because they just don't fully understand how disabling this angioedema can be. For me, it is much more difficult to deal with than the hives.
