Wow...New Year resolution time already. I stopped making 'em years ago. I

always resolved to lose weight, which I often did. Of course then I put it

back on! But this year is different. With 115 pounds less of me to focus on,

I feel like I can make resolutions and actually stick to them...what a

concept!!

1. Stop drinking pop. At some point, I became hooked on Diet Dr Pepper. Now

that I know it's possibly damaging my teeth and/or sucking the calcium out

of my bones...I think it's time to go back to being the water guzzler I was

pre-op.

2. Eat real meals like normies do. My mom is wintering with me, and since

she has arrived I realize how often cheese and crackers had become a meal

for me. Mom is a normie, so I'm getting some good practice on acting like

one.

3. Continue the journey (55 pounds in my case) in a chilled out state of

mind. I am just brutal to myself at times! I would never expect the things

of others that I expect of myself. It's time to show myself the compassion I

so readily show others.

Happy New Year to all! We are a tremendous bunch of people IMHO!

Amen Kim!

Your resolutions echo my own.

As the 100 lbs came off I felt great, normal in fact .. too normal. I

started eating erratically and have since regained 10 lbs but my lifeline

(or so I thought) was my diet coke. Preoperatively it was easy to consume a

24 case of of REGULAR Coke a week.)

As soon as I got the green light from my surgeon to try ONE can of diet

coke a day I literally did that. I felt justified, my doc said so. One can

of diet coke a day. Now I realize whoa I'm addicted when I noticed I was

doing maybe 3 cans of diet coke a day and no water. Then the posts come in

about this doing damage to your pouch, your bones, my teeth .. what a whack

up the head of reality.

So I too my goals are give up soda (pop), eat better meals more regularly so

I cut down or cut out the grazing of crap that I've been gravatating

towards,

increase exercise.

Amazingly the first year almost I was an exercise demoness but seem to have

burned out and now leery of picking up those exercise shoes again.

Lastly continue on my journey I'd like to lose another 20 lbs and have been

content to hang where I am too long .. and wallow in pity when I see there

are areas I have SOME control over to do something. I still fear I've

stretched my pouch or had SLD which I will address with my surgeon but

meanwhile there are steps I can take to get back on board this train of

better health.

Happy new year to you all!
