I wasn't aware that Xanthan Gum was not allowed on the yeast free diet.

We buy non-corn derived Xanthan Gum from Barbara's Kitchen (in the UK). We

are using it for Noahs Bread and sugar free muffins. My son's yeast levels

are almost within normal range after 2 months on a yeast free sugar free

diet, biocidin and Kirkmans pro Bio Gold.

Perhaps you could find a source for non-corn derived Xanthan Gum in the US.

Alternatively you could replace the bread with pancakes, waffles or bean

flour pizza bases, none of which need Xanthan Gum.

Best wishes

My name is . My nearly 5 year old son will probably have to go on a

yeast free diet in the near future and I'm dreading eliminating all sweet

foods (especially fruit) from his diet. He's already a picky eater. I

would love to hear from other parents who have been through this. We're

already doing gfcf and he will be tested very soon for all sorts of yeast

metabolites. Thanks to all.

Hi ,

I'm new to this Yeast Diet too. I'm using a book written by a doctor

who's done alot of work treating children with autism. The book is

called Feast without Yeast. He says raw honey is allowed. There is

even a candy recipe in this book, also a great pumpkin pie recipe.

Just got it so haven't tried everything yet. The majority of recipes

are GFCF. Only problem: no baked goods recipes! I called the author

today to ask about that - specifically about using guar gum instead

of

Xanthan gum.

It's a pretty helpful book - and the doctor has seen great results

with this type of diet.

Theresa

PS I'm also going to try stevia - a sweetner that doesn't promote

yeast growth.

Hi.,

Please check out the site on aspartame.

It really is not good for you. MSG is a second

runner up. www.dorway.com .

Have you tried any stevia cookbooks? Maybe there are some tricks to

disguising the bitter taste? Also I remember hearing about

left-handed sugars. Sugars that can't be used by the body because we

don't make the right enzyme to break it down. I'm the type that

stays

away from things like nutrasweet, etc. so I'm not the best person to

ask.

Oh, talked to Dr. Semon tonight. He thinks we could used guar gum

instead of Xanthan gum in our baking. Still have to check out how

it's made.

Dr. Semon is the one who put together his own Yeast treatment for his

son and many other autistic children. He had a lot of success with

it

and put out a cook book with his wife.

Hi - Stevia comes in some different forms - the more highly refined

forms are composed of " steviosides " and have very little of the

bitter

aftertaste. I use a powdered stevia in baking that works great - it's

called " Stevia Extract Powder " by the company " Wisdom of the

Ancients. "

The same company makes a couple of liquid extracts - my favorite is

called " SteviaClear " - several drops in bubbly lime or lemon mineral

water makes it taste just like 7-up! I also make lemonade with it and

sweeten herbal iced tea. Just make sure what you are getting is the

" steviosides " and not just a stevia blend or the herb.

Regarding stevia, a really good cookbook is Sugar Free Cooking with

Stevia, by & Kirkland. It has conversion tables and

explains how to use it in any recipe, as well as lots of good recipes.

Thanks for input. I hate the idea of aspartame, but I haven't been able

to find another sugar substitute that doesn't taste awful. I have tried

one brand of stevia, but it's so bitter. Does anyone have any

suggestions?

Also, I'm very interested in what people are saying about pepcid. My son

can be very non-compliant. We've only just begun a strict gfcf diet so

I'm still new to all the different things that can be tried. I would

love to know people's experiences with pepcid.

Thanks to all.

I haven't tried any stevia cookbooks yet, but I've seen recipes on

various websites. I'll continue looking for a brand that's less bitter

tasting. And I'll continue to try to find left handed sugar and see what

comes up. I did find two things called Sunnett and something else, but

they may have side effects.
