Guest guest
Hi, Terry - I'm in the UK too - I took my lump to my GP; he said "nasty huge lump, better see a specialist." When I said "I have medical insurance, and could I go private?", he said "same treatment, nicer surroundings." I think he may be right, as I see my surgeon and my oncologist at private hospitals in unhurried clinics, my chemo nurses came to me at home to give my IV treatment, and I had my surgery at a local private hospital (nice place, lovely food!). I do think we have paid enough in taxes to expect this kind of treatment as a right; but by paying for my insurance as well, and going private, I have at least not added to the NHS waiting lists. I took my quilting into hospital with me ... sewing is therapy! How did your surgery go on May 19? My mastectomy was on May 8, and I haven't driven yet - my chest and arm are still feeling very strange, although improving. I think that it is a disgrace that people have to pay for any sort of medical treatment when you think of how much we all have to pay or have paid in the past in taxes which should go towards any medical expenses. The amount of medication that I have to take if I lived anywhere else in the world I dread to think of how I would live if I had to pay for it. Terry I live in Texas and the hospital I go to only cost me $15.00 for doctor and for my surgery only cost me $50.00. Wish I could help. hugs. Talk is cheap. Use Yahoo!
