I think it is a horrible idea to put these medications over the

counter. For me, at least. Our family paid about $700.00 in

copayments last year for prescription drugs; some are short-term

usage, but most are used daily. Our co-pay went from $5.00 to $10.00

in October 2000. So, this year our total will be much higher. Actual

cost of prescriptions (without insurance) would have been

approximately $5,400.00.

Some prescriptions that have gone over the counter, like Tagamet,

still have a prescription strength. Nasalcrom (nose) is only over the

counter now. No one has mentioned if theses medications will only be

over the counter. Also, how much will the price come down --- are

there any comparisons? This is only a suggestion, opening it to

discussion. For people without insurance, it will be good. For those

of us with insurance, it is not good.
