When I was in the 180s, I just *knew* that I'd never drop into the 170s. I stayed in the 170s for quite awhile, and really thought I wouldn't get below that. Now I'm sitting at 169 and I honestly do not see myself in the 150s. Who knows. At this point, I'll be flabbergasted if I get below 160. My original goal weight was 145 -- that would put me at a 25 BMI. But after checking my body fat composition, Delphine recommended the 160 goal, which is great with me. Bottom line is that I'm not forcing things -- I'm letting the surgery work for me, and I'm letting the chips fall where they may. From the outset, I have felt that if I could do that, I would be thrilled even if I landed at a BMI of 30ish. You know, the really remarkable thing is not the number on the scale. I researched which surgery to have and chose the DS based mostly on my desire for a lifestyle devoid of dieting, and I am happy to say that it's WORKING! May I be completely candid? I eat whatever the hell I want, whenever the hell I want. I don't diet, I don't limit myself (everything in moderation though, of course). I am not doing any type of regimented exercise program. I am doing what I set out to do, which is just live, eat, and enjoy life. This is what its like to be NORMAL!!! Praise the Lord (and pass the butter!) ;-) Hugs, M. --- in Fremont, CA, age 38 Starting weight 299, now 169 Starting BMI 49.7, now 28.1 Lap DGB/DS by Dr. Rabkin 10-19-99 http://www.duodenalswitch.com Direct replies: mailto:melanie@...
