Guest guest
Hi Beth, The first "specialist" i went to see for my pain (clitoral pain) also prescribed lidocaine gel and told me to use it twice a day for 4-6 weeks and most likely I'd be better. Well after a few weeks I could see that it wasn't doing anything but covering up a tiny bit of my pain. After this I went to another doctor who was ridiculous and then finally found my current doctor. I don't think lidocaine does much but sometimes help have intercourse and it mainly covers up your symptoms, not really fix anything. There are lots of things that could be causing your pain. I've heard that PT helps a lot of women with vestibulitis along with other meds. I can't believe she told you to come back in 6 months...that sounds crazy to me. I think you need to find a new specialist. I don't know of anyone in Indiana but if you don't hear of anyone from anyone else on the group you could join the NVA and they'll send you a list of doctors and PT's in your state. Beth wrote: Hello ladies! My name's Beth, I'm 20 years old and have (officially)been diagnosed with vulvar vestibultis for about 5 months now, but wasdisplaying symptoms before my official diagnosis. I joined the groupa little while ago, but was too shy to speak up.I joined, like a lot of you probably did, in search of hope. I'veread so many articles saying that it may never be cured, that I'llneed surgery, that nobody knows what's caused it or how to fix it (tothe ladies, about the possible birth control link, I've been on mycurrent birth control pills for a number of years now and, as Imentioned, have been displaying symptoms for a much shorter time). I'm getting married next year, and while my fiance says that he lovesme despite this problem, I can't help but worry, since this isn't fairto him, either. But anyway, my question. I was also wondering, sinceI haven't seen this mentioned too much, if lidocaine has ever actuallyhelped anyone here. My doctor prescribed the gel to me and told me toapply it every night, and see her in 6 mos. Well, the 6 mos. arealmost up, and my symptoms have actually gotten worse-we've addedburning now, in addition to entrance pain. Joy.And finally (sorry for the long post!), if anyone's currently livingin Indiana, preferably the northern half, and has either seen a gooddoctor there or knows of any research studies that need participants, please give me a heads-up. The fact that any of us are suffering andleft with so many unanswerable questions is rediculous, and I want tohelp be part of the solution.:)Beth Any questions? Get answers on any topic at Yahoo!
