Guest guest
Have you ever had your b-12 or folic acid tested??? Switched to taking armour sublingually - stress on adrenals? I've been taking nutri-meds adrenal for a couple weeks now to hopefully address the adrenal symptoms I've had for a long time. 5 days ago, I started feeling soreness in my leg muscles which is wonderful for me. (I haven't been able to build muscle tone or feel any soreness for a couple years now.) So I was cautiously optimistic. I also switched to taking my 1 grain armour sublingually earlier this week. Now today, any feeling in my muscles is gone. And the jiggly feeling seems worse. Hair loss is still horrible, plus still have no desire for sex or even just holding hands. By switching to sublingual, which should have increased the amount absorbed, could I have put stress on my adrenals and caused the muscle weakness again? Should I go back to swallowing my armour or maybe increase the nutri-meds (am taking 2 tabs now.) (Have also been taking iron for low ferritin for 1 1/2 months and just started sublingual B12 and a capsule form of multi-vit rather than a hard tablet) Any ideas? Thank you so much. I'm feel pretty depressed about all this right now. Debbie

Guest guest
Yes, on Aug 2, ferritin was 31 (10-291) so have been on iron 325 mg ferrous sulfate 2x/day since then. B-12 wasn't tested, but MCV was over the range, as well as RDW. And I was told that indicated probably b-12 deficiency so have just started the sublingual b-12. Guest guest
your issues sound more like anemia and B's deficiency. Take 1000 mcg a day of b-12 lozenges or over and a separate stress b vitamin that is in a capsule not a hard pill. Add 75 mg of co-q10 2x a day. I would also for two weeks do the iron 3x a day. Then drop back to 2. I also get a co-q10 that has c and some b and I take it with each iron dose. Take natural calm a magnesium that you mix with hot water. That will keep you from getting plugged up. In 4 weeks, you will feel like a new person. I hope you have some extra thyroid meds to add at least another 15 mg to compensate the iron. Guest guest
Debbie, I suspect that what you are experiencing is simply that you are not on enough Armour....probably is time to raise it. And keep doing it sublingually, plus the iron, B-vitamins, etc. that Jamy mentioned. Guest guest
Jamy - I took the iron 3x/day for about 10 days and got pretty constipated so dropped down to 2x/day. Maybe I'll try the magnesium and that will help. What is the co-q10 -- does it help with the anemia? And how does the iron increase the need for thyroid meds? I'm sorry for such basic questions! Thanks - Debbie > your issues sound more like anemia and B's deficiency. Take 1000 mcg a day of b-12 lozenges or over and a separate stress b vitamin that is in a capsule not a hard pill. Guest guest
Looking back at my original post, I forgot to state that I am also taking .137 synthroid in addition to the 1 grain armour. Am trying to slowing get back to straight armour tho. Previously on straight armour, after a few months, I started getting these same symptoms that I have now. Which lead me to the adrenal issue. Do you still think I should increase the armour -- I've been on this thyroid combo for about 5 weeks. Guest guest
There's really no need to get off synthroid slowly. But there does appear to be a need to first be sure your Ferritin is opimtal, and only then suspect your adrenals. Guest guest
It was the original dose of 60 mg of Armour prescribed, but i was unable to handle it so I was cutting it and taking half. Then to make it easier, I had them give me a script for 15 mg pills. Once my ferritin was getting up there, that dose just was fine and I needed more, so they gave me a script for more after I had already increased it by 15 more mg or 5 pills a day. Then when I went to Friedman, he would have preferred that I switch to Armour and I refused. So he had me add another 15 mg. That was 1 1/2 grains In 5 weeks, I added another 30 mgs to 2 grains and felt great . We did labs and still a bit low on free t4 but tsh was supressed and the free t3 was at the top so I wanted to leave it. Now I have added 25 mg of t4 a couple of months later. I need to get labs but should see him first since it has been months and I would like my goiter and nodules felt and my heart, etc. Then I will get labs and he will tweak me via internet. > >Reply-To: NaturalThyroidHormones >To: NaturalThyroidHormones >Subject: RE: Re: Switched to taking armour >sublingually - stress on adrenals? >Date: Fri, 1 Oct 2004 09:16:43 -0700 >

Guest guest
HI, Janie, I don't take iron but I do take Effexor and Adderall which both cause constipation and I'm prone to constipation anyway. I eat 10 prunes daily with breakfast to help with the problem. I take two Slowmags at night which has 256 mg. of magnesium total. Plus I take 3 high absorption magnesium tablets during the day which totals 600 mg. Sounds like way to much. But doesn't affect the constipation at all. Do I need another form of magnesium? in Va. Jamy has given you an excellent answer and I want to add that magnesium definitely helps the constipation caused by iron!! Janie
Guest guest
HI , My top doc here told me to take 200-4000mg magnesium per day up to bowel tolerance. You also really have to read the labels. Sometimes there are 2 numbers of mgs of magnesium on the label. The lower number is the real amount of magnesium per serving. I wasn't getting nearly the amount I thought I was when I looked at this. For example my magnesium glycinate powder says each serving contains 997 mg magnesium glycinate, supplying magnesium 182 mg. huge difference in the numbers. Magnesium oxide is supposed to have the most laxative effect from what I have read. nne _____ From: Sent: Tuesday, October 05, 2004 1:59 PM To: NaturalThyroidHormones Subject: RE: Re: Switched to taking armour sublingually - stress on adrenals? I wasn't getting nearly the amount I thought I was when I looked at this. For example my magnesium glycinate powder says each serving contains 997 mg magnesium glycinate, supplying magnesium 182 mg. huge difference in the numbers. Magnesium oxide is supposed to have the most laxative effect from what I have read. nne _____ From: Sent: Tuesday, October 05, 2004 1:59 PM To: NaturalThyroidHormones Subject: RE: Re: Switched to taking armour sublingually - stress on adrenals? Janie
