Guest guest
Hi Arline. Thanks for responding. I am doing as much research as I can about VV. I have had awful luck with doctors or should I say in finding a good one that is. I have alot of health issues. (neuropathic dysmotility of the small bowel, stomach issues, inflammed bladder/urethra, burning throat issues for the last three years from possible neuralgia, Now VV,vulvodynia,) I swear the list seems to go on and on. As far as the metronidazole, well I stopped it. The nurse from my urogyne's office called and told me to stop it. She said that I need to clear the infection though. She wants me to try the metrogel, I guess the vaginal form of the metroniodazole. I hope it does not carry as many side affects as the oral one. I find it weird that he would put me on the same class of drug though knowing I was sensitive to the oral form which gave me this awful tongue burning. Is the vaginal form less likely to have the same side affects? I am sensitive to alot of meds(especially oral). I am still trying to learn as much as I can about these diseases. My quality of life has been just horrible due to all the pain issues I deal with daily. It is worse because I am so sensitive to alot of meds and cant take them. This makes it worse. And having a bad gut really makes it hard to tolerate anything. Anyhow, thank you for the info, I appreciate it. I am glad to have become a part of this group. I hope you are doing well. Big Hugs to you. Jen wrote: > > , > > If you have Vulvar Vestibulitis I personally have > never seen it cured with Metronidazole?? Guest guest
Hi Jen, Thanks for the email and I surely hope you find some answers soon. It is quite likely that the vaginal form doesn't absorb into the rest of the body. (hopefully) Recently I used some steroid nose spray that the doctor told me only stayed in the nasal passages. That was a surprise to me as I figure most things are absorbed into the body but what do I know??? It gave me a headache?? I don't think you will find much about cures for vestibulitis. You will get some ideas for treatments, pain killers, maybe physical therapy which is really foreign to me for this problem????? Opportunites for surgery where they remove the nerve endings. (Don't do it--not year anyway). They just don't know much about the cause. I don't know if anybody is looking besides us. Again, this is my impression. What you tell me about your other problems--stomach, bowel, bladder, neuropathy, sensitivity to meds, bad gut, lots of health problems tells me you are a really classic case of gluten sensitivity. Do you also have anxiety and fatique?? Vestibulitis isn't a disease I am sure but it is a symptom of some disease. Gluten Sensitivity is an autoimmune disease that can be helped and controlled. I believe that if you order online the gluten sensitivity stool test at http://www.enterolab.com for $99.00 plus postage you will find the basic cause of most of your health problems. You will then be able to deal with something specific instead of launching out on this never ending doctor hopping, medication and treatment mightmare. That is where you should start in my opinion. All that pain is not just from some vaginal problem that you have I strongly suspect. Hope this all helps you. Arline --- " (sari) Tesinsky " wrote: > > Hi Arline. > Thanks for responding. Guest guest
Hi Arline. Thanks again for replying. I do find it interesting about the gluten sensitivity. I did that gluten free diet a couple years back thinking that it may have been what was causing all my gut problems and throat burning, but my symptoms did not resolve. It is an idea though to look into to trying again. I also talked with my gastroenterologist about the possibility of celiacs disease, but his answer was that the biggest symptom of this would be diareaha, and this I never have. I am usually pretty normal, but tend to lean towards the constipated side if anything.i also had blood work done to check for this, and that was ok. So I just dont know. But like i said, I may look into it again, at least trying the diet. It cant hurt I guess. Just that it is VERY expensive to be on a gluten free diet as the food is soooo expensive. That is terrible since I dont think people should have to pay more just because they are sick. I was also thinking that maybe all this vaginal pain and bladder/urethral pain could be because of the bacteria causing the bacterial vaginosis. This sucks because I cannot take the oral metrodinazole due to side affect.(severe burning tongue) Do you know of or have you heard of any natural remedies in treating bacterial vaginosis? I need to lick this, but dont see how I will since I cant take the one med that treats it, at least not orally. Also I have read that you have a greater risk of developing pelvic inflammatory disease. The doctor called in the metrogel(vaginal gel). I guess I will try it, but only a small bit at first just to see if I get any reactions from it. I also read that clidamycin can help, but of course I am also allergic to clidamycin. I have read that these are the only two drugs that treat this. I cannot believe there are no other meds that treat this since it is so common. If you have any ideas please let me know. I would really appreciate it. As far as the VV, it is depressing that there are not many treatments available. I just am tired of being in all this pain from so many different things and yet have no answers really as to why or what is the cause. I did not think it was humanly possible to have so many things wrong at the same time. It is unbelieveable. Anyways, Thanks so much for all your insight on things. If you have any other ideas, please share with me. Big Hugs! Guest guest
I think that you can use Boric Acid Suppositories for BV. They also work for yeast (which you might get while treating the BV with antibiotics) and Strep B. Big Hugs! Guest guest
I also talked with my gastroenterologist about the possibility of celiacs disease, but his answer was that the biggest symptom of this would be diareaha, and this I never have. He is wrong. It depends where the body is attacked. If it attacks the nerves you would have constipation. If it attacks the small intestine you would likely have diarrhea. The truth is you don't have to have either symptom. You can have this thing all your life with little or no symptoms and then your pancreas might hemmorhage, thyroid die, destruction of some part of your intestines, terrible nerve pain, osteoporosis, etc. The doc is wrong. Very wrong. As I said, most of them haven't a clue about this either. You can't just " do a gluten free diet " . It is complicated and requires a lot of study to know what you are doing. One must remember that Celiac and Gluten Sensitivity are different. The docs don't know much about either. As I said the blood work isn't accurate and doesn't test for gluten sensitivity at all. Unless you are tested, you won't have the motivation to do the very complex diet. Gluten Sensitivity messes up the intestines and causes an imbalance in the bacteria which then migrates to the vagina. I am afraid the testing is my best shot. Otherwise you will go from treatment to treatment and doctor to doctor with this business. I hope I am wrong and you quickly find a way to clear up this bacterial infection and live happily and healthily forever after by taking all the pills and treatments. There is much more wrong with you than a bacterial infection. I don't believe you have so many different things wrong with you but probably one thing that causes it all. People go for years with reoccurring vaginal bacterial infections sometimes. I think you have to heal the gut before they really go away permanently. Hopefully you will have success.. Guest guest
Jen, Your story sounds so much like mine. They kept telling me I had bv. When I finally got a decent doc it wasn't bv, it was an overgrowth of good bacteria, which is very different. They diagnosed me with bv based on "clue cells" which look like an overgrowth of lactobacillus under the microscope. I feel that repeated metro gel made me worse. Boric acid supposotories will help with the bv, and in fact, I had a half-decent gyno that suggested them. I really recommend www.taoofherbs.com and their yeast arrest boric acid suppositories, because they come with directions on how to use them long-term. If you do indeed have repeated bv infections, my doc said they would be used daily for 14 days, then 1x per week for six months, then 2x per month for a while after that. Talk to a doc and see.
