Guest guest
Metronidazole is Flagyl which is a type of antibioitic typically used to sotp the growth of bacteria and protozoa. I am very confused as to why it would be prescribed for VV or why any Dr. whould tell you that VV goes away in two weeks. The reason I am so familiar with this drug is because it is used for Lyme disease to break up the cysts that they lyme spirocettes form and make them resistant to regular antibiotics. Depending on your dose it can be very difficult to tolerate. I only have to take 205 mgs twice per day for one week per month (I used to take twice that but this dr. is nicer) I would recommend contacting your pharmacist to see what they say. This drug may even compound your problem as it commonly causes yeast infections (thrush in the mouth or vaginal) I would stop the med and get a second opinion. Hope things work out for you. Guest guest
Thanks Ora for this article. I just cut a few lines out of it that describe the main differences as I understand them between " essential vulvodynia " and " vulvar vestibulis syndrome. " Dysesthetic vulvodynia (essential vulvodynia) is " Diffuse, unremitting burning pain that is not cyclic. Less dyspareunia or point tenderness than in vulvar vestibulitis. " Vulvar vestibulitis syndrome " Entry dyspareunia or pain with insertion of tampon " > > http://www.aafp.org/afp/990315ap/1547.html >
