Guest guest
Hi . The adrenal test will show results of your cortisol, which is the most important. Supplements are for the cortisol, though it can be wise to also test your DHEA and see if you need assistance there, too. Your symptoms are very hypo-related, though the insomnia CAN be adrenal related...but it can be hypo, as well. Are you on both T4 and Armour? If so, how much of the T4? Once you raise that Armour, you'll notice great results. Janie > > When you get an adrenal test, will it include both the DHEA and > Cortisol? Guest guest
Thanks, Janie, for your reply. I've just reached 1 1/2 grains of Armour (only) this week. Been on it for only 4 weeks. I went up tooo fast (to 1 1/2 grains) which caused hypo/hyper symptoms all at same time with LOTS of pain. Dropped back... added adrenal support a week ago... and starting to try 90 mg again. No T4 now. My TSH was 3.2 in August, down from 4.7 in July. Not too high, but with typical continued symptoms. I actually have severe insomnia so I guess it would be helpful to test for cortisol. But should I be without any adrenal support to test for cortisol to get an accurate reading? If so, for how long? A week? OK- I've started adrenal support with the only supplement that my health food store offered. It's from Enzymatic Therapy called Raw Adrenal. Each time I've taken it (about 5 days now) I get a nausiating pain in my stomach area (hoping its not my liver). Is it too much??? My Raw Adrenal capsules have: Adrenal Cortex Extract ... 16.5 mg Pituatary Extract ........ 60 mg L-Tyrosine .... 125 mg Adrenal Polypeptide Fractions ... 200 mg (have you ever heard of that?) Plus Vit C 125 mg, B6 26 mg, and Pantothenic Acid/Calcium D.. 50 mg Does that seem like an extreme amount if other meds mentioned here have (according to my notes taken from here): Nutri-meds (that inc raw adrenal) .. 5 mg per tablet Isocort .... 2.5 mg per tablet It's a capsule so I can't cut it into. Thanks again for everyone's insight! S.
Guest guest
- The 5 mg in Nutri-Meds and 2.5 mg in Isocort is just the cortisol that's in the tablets. I just started the Nutri-meds a few weeks ago and it actually has 80 mg of raw bovine adrenal tissue. So the 16.5 mg in your tablets probably isn't comparable to the 5 mg and 2.5 mg of cortisol in the others. I'm sure others can explain it better and will be able to help you with the pain you're having since you've started it. Since I just started, I don't have much experience to draw from!
