Guest guest
> have you or are you taking any enzymes supps? I know this was directed to Tish, but I found the topic interesting, because I have been working with a new doc. One of the things she has been doing is correcting all my health issues, and not just thyroid. One of the things she has prescribed for me is digestive enzymes. She has me taking Marcozyme by Marco Pharma International. I take three with each meal, but she would like to me move up to 4 with each meal. Also, for low stomach acid, she has me taking Betaine HCL by Thorne Research. I didn't tolerate it well, so I'm not currently taking it. She believes that low stomach acid and digestive enzymes indeed play a role in hypothyroidism. (I have Hashi's). C.
Guest guest
hello C., thanks for your input! i am just now scimming the surface of so many health issues. i'm embarassed to say i never really gave a hoot before. i think i believed too much that i " was just fat and lazy and thats the way i would always be " . okay, put those hankies away. skipping ahead a few decades i now am able to hear and learn and believe i can make new choices and get healthy-er. (that felt good) aaaannnnnd enough of that... in my reading i keep seeing that a happy healthy liver is the biggest and first key to get the rest right. and plant enzyme supps are one piece of THAT puzzle. i am gathering the ingredients needed to do a liver/gall bladder cleanse. for some reason, japan does not sell Epsom salts or the chem name either. strange. i do have a couple people on the hunt for it. has anyone here done a l/gb cleanse? is that getting waaaaay too personal? sorry about the rambling. my co-workers are a little tired of my new favorite topics. heha thank you again C. kathryn > > > have you or are you taking any enzymes supps? > > I know this was directed to Tish, but I found the topic interesting, because > I have been working with a new doc. Not many doctors realize the connection between thyroid problems and leaky gut. It is rare indeed. ___________________ Betaine HCL by Thorne Research. ___________________ I think this would be a good supplement for those with low stomach acid. I didn't have much trouble with this. So, I suppose that means I need it. ____________________ As far as digestive enzymes go, this is a really complex issue and I have had trouble deciding about products. I have low pancreatic enzymes and so was taking pancreatin. But, it bothers me after a while and seems to irritate my digestive tract. Different brands can have better or worse effects, I've found. Also, some supplements made from cows, etc worry me a little since I am already taking animal based adrenal and thyroid extracts. However, I have read that pancreatic enzymes do more than digest food and actually help with inflammation and other cellular functions. There are quite a few plant based digesttive enzymes and I have tried several, but an not very dilligent about keeping it up or using a specific brand. Some enzymes are better for protein digestion and others for carbos and fats. So, it is good to get one with a wide array of enzymes and in as high a dose as possible. I do take probiotics and have had good luck with Primal Defense and with Solger probiotics. Primal Defense is really good in my book because they are bacteria that can survive high acid and digestive enzymes long enough to get to the lower intestine and bowel, where many problems develope first. Many people ferment vegetables making Keefer. These bacteria are tougher than regular probiotics. You can read about it at Wilderness Family Naturals.
