Guest guest
<< I go to one of the top specialists in vulvodynia and she told me to > increase the amitriptyine up to 150mg depending on how I felt. I > increased slowly and did get to 150mg. This did help a lot.>> That's great - I wish more doctors (well, certainly in the UK) were aware of the higher dose some people need. I hear too many stories of doctors who tell patients not to exceed 30mg/day and while a low dose can help some people, not everyone responds in the same way. << I decided to add neurontin to see if I could get even more benefit and she said I could go up to 3,000mg a day. I got up to 1,500 a day and got a lot of benefit.>> I also combined anti-D's and antio-C's and that made the most difference to my life and my pain. I think it's one of the best ways to deal with chronic pain. I was able, after 2 years, to taper off completely and still reap the benefits. << My biggest problem is being dressed and wearing underwear. >> Tough one this- for years I stuck to wearing skirts and in winter added knee-high boots and petticoats. Then I started wearing very loose trousers and finally doctored jeans by cutting out the middle seam in a sort of eye or circle shape and patching it with soft jersey material of a similar colour. Much more comfy and hardly anyone notices. I now wear hold-ups and stockings (which can be very sexy!) or cut the critch out of tights. Panties are an ongoing experiment: I don't know how many pairs I have (many!) and some can be worn for a short while, others a bit longer and a few pairs for even longer still! I think many ladies go w/o if possible, or at least at home. Perhaps as your meds keep working you will tolerate it for longer periods, but you are already doing quite well - I recall when this started I could not tolerate anything touching my vulva or pubic bone for months and months and I was stuck in bed most of the time. I spent years lying down before I managed to get a combo of meds to help me. Good luck, Kay
Guest guest
Hi, I was wondering what anti-D's and antio-C's were? Especially since they helped you so much. > I also combined anti-D's and antio-C's and that made the most > difference to my life and my pain.
