Guest guest
Elana, and any other LOL with large fibroids: You may be somewhat comforted to know that none of you appear to be the list record-breaker as far as the actual largeness of your myoma. And ladies, I actually don't think I'm the record-breaker for number. Last year, I remembered Greenspan from California had a myomectomy on June 4. Check message 21765. Her fibroid, according to her post was a whopping 35 cm x 12cm. I think she compared it to a the size of a Thanksgiving turkey,.....At the time, I compared it to the size of the Manhatten White Pages Telephone Directory....which is no exaggeration My own fibroids, according to the pathology report ranged in size from just under a cm. to 8.5 cms. Only 13 fibroids of the 46 fibroids were sent to pathology. I'm assuming the smallest and the largest were part of the sampling. The weight of the 13 fibroids sampled totaled just 400 grams (.40 kilos) or approx. 14 ounces. Yep, those 13 fibroids weighed in at less than a pound!! Could have fooled me. I thought I had solid lead in there! By the way, Elana what is a " Doc in the Box " facility? And what happened with your MRI--do you know anything more about your post-colonoscopy pain? -Roma > > > Last doctor I saw in a " doc in the box " facility estimated it was 25 cm > (just > from feeling my abdomen), termed it " humongous " and the " largest he'd ever > seen " and said " he'd be surprised if I didn't lose my uterus " . > > If I wasn't a member of this group, I might have found that statement very > scary. Guest guest
the question then becomes rather zen like....what came first....the woman or the fibroid. gg Lydia Lerner wrote: > WHO? WHERE? Guest guest
This was NO typo. It's the biggest recorded fibroid. They removed a 200 lb tumor (differant kind of benign tumor) from a woman and used a hoist to lift it out! Showed the surgery on TV. She nearly died. http://www.thehollandsentinel.net/stories/123199/new_tumor.html Lobna Reda wrote:Kukalaka, Is this a typo? How much did the woman who " carried " it weigh in total? Guest guest
No, this wasn't a fibroid as we know it. The woman had " elephant man's disease. " So it was a tumor but not a uterine fibroid. Hope this clarifies things. Rhonda
