'OK, you can tell I am too tired. I wanted to send this note to only Carmen,

but sent it out to the entire group. So.... if any of you have any feedback on

my idea below for the Magic convention, feel free to email me. Clearly, I am in

the brainstorming stage only right now.. Sorry for the confusion.

Carmen - I am not ready to publish this yet, as I am still working out the

details (I have only told Debby B of Canada).  But I will be publishing the

details of a financial assistance/fundraising program our RSS Division of Magic

will be implementing.

>

We will be asking RSS families who will not be able to attend the convention

unless they have financial assistance to apply to my new program.  Magic

requires a tax return though.  And what we will be doing is asking the family to

raise 50% of the funds, and we will match the other 50%.  I will also publish a

list of ways that families can raise the money on their own.

>

Then, the rest of the RSS Division has to raise the funds.  I will be having a

very nice card written explaining Magic, RSS and the convention, and using a

photo of the kids from last year.  I would also like to include brief

biographical sketches of 3-4 children who might be receiving help (first names

only, ages, etc).  And asking for donations of $1, $5 or $10, or $___ Other.

>

>

Then I, my family, and any other Magic members, can mail these out to their

family and friends.  (The families receiving assistance would NOT do this

because they would be hitting up their family and friends for their own

assistance!!! - but could use these same cards and 100% of the money they raised

would go to their own 50% personal portion).

>

I know last year, you guys did some major financial juggling to get to come to

the convention.  Does this sound like it would work?  I wanted to get several

people's opinions.  I just want to make sure that ANYONE who wants to come to

the RSS convention, can come.  That financial considerations should NOT be a

hindrance to receiving the best medical advice and care they can get for their

child (ability to see Dr. H at the convention, too).

I think your fundraising ideas will work well.

Unfortunately we can't come this year b/c of a

schedulig conflict but will make sure next year we

keep our calendars free. I know that I would be

willing to ask some of me friends and relatives for

help.
