I just heard that about herpes settling into nerve endings even though there is no obvious symptom of herpes. I wonder if taking Lysine or like you said the herpes med that is supposed to limit your outbreaks will help. general irritation in the area. I have since noticed that I will often get coldsores at the same time as one or two little bumps down there with irritation. Since my surgery for vvs in 2001 my symptoms are dramaticly improved, but I do still need to control ocassional flare ups with Estrace Cream. , This is exactly what i've been going through! My GYN doesn't want to put me on maintenance herpes medication because she says it has strong side effects and I don't have simplex 2. i managed to get her to write a prescription for Valtrex for just a few days. I took it last month the week before and during my period once a day 50 mg. I've noticed over the past few months that that's when my VPD is worst. I had very little discomfort, even during sex, and I think it was the Valtrex because this month I didn't do it and sure enough the pain and all other VPD symptoms were back. I am taking Lysine, licorice pills, b complex and vitamin c which are supposed to help keep the cold sore virus under control in the meantime. E. PLEASE get a second opinion on the valtrex. My doc prescribed

acyclovir for my vulvodynia in case it was herpes related (I've never

had an outbreak and I also tested negative). I was on 200 mg. He

said it was VERY SAFE and a very commonly prescribed medication. 200

mg is not even what they give people with active herpes-it's more

like 600 or 800 mg, and there were absolutely no side effects.

I got only dandruff, which I've nevered in my life suffered from. I had to use a special shampoo and my hair got a little dry, but that's a small price to pay for being free of vestibular pain and burning.
