I am from Northern Ireland and have had much the same experience as you.

Our son was diagnosed with bilateral talipes at the 20 week scan which just

heaped additional worry and concern on our shoulders. Josh is now 1 year

old and has been having treatment with Mr De Kiewiet since he was 1 week

old. We live in Northern Ireland and therefore had to travel over weekly to

Sunderland for treatment. It is difficult and takes much patience as the

baby does have to get used to being in plaster casts which are not very

comfortable. I have to say it is worth all the effort and Josh's feet look

good and he now wears his DB Bar only when sleeping, He is cruising around

furniture but I still think it will be a while until he walks as his ankles

need to strengthen. With regards to the tenotomy Josh had his done under a

general, it is not a big procedure but I think they feel it is safer to do

it under the correct conditions and who am I to questions this. We now

travel to Sunderland every 4-6 months.

We may see you in Sunderland at some stage and I hope everything will work

out OK.
