Guest guest
I forgot to add that Dr Cole tests the TSH and I have to keep tract of my temp and report back to him. He said when my temp is in the 97.8 to 98.6 range that will tell us that I am on the right amount of meds. Does taking the correct amount of meds and bringing your hormone level back to normal also bring your temp back up? My temp has been so low for so many years I didn't realize it could be brought back up. My docs have just told me for years that that is just " my normal " temperature. One last question. I have lost a lot of hair the last couple of years. My cosmotoligist said it has been dead so long that it won't grow back. I read in this new book I have that if the hair loss is caused by hypothyroid that once you get your hormones back to normal that the hair should grow back. Has anyone had this happen? I am keeping my fingers crossed that this is true. > I had to share my story with you all. I have been struggling > finding someone that would listen about my hypothyroid problems. Guest guest
Dr. Cole is a mixed bag--he wonderfully prescribes you Armour, pays attention to temps, but tests the TSH?? Your Dr. Cole needs to understand that the only lab test that really means something is the free T3. Your goal is to get the free T3 towards the top of the range, and even over, if need be. And even MORE important is dosing by SYMPTOMS. I dosed by symptoms after I got up to 2 grains. When I got up to 3 grains, I discovered my free T3 was over the top and my TSH was .009. Check out the article on TSH in the FILES section. Yes, your temp will rise. It's a wonderful side effect of good thyroid treatment. And yes, your hair will grow back!! ) Remind Dr. Cole that before labs came out, patients were successfuly dosed by SYMPTOMS, and the minimum dose of Armour was 3 grains and HIGHER. Keep us informed. You are on your way, kiddo!! Janie > I forgot to add that Dr Cole tests the TSH and I have to keep tract > of my temp and report back to him. I had a low temperature for over a decade before beginning treatment. in fact the main reason I ended up trying to find out what was wrong with me (after so many docs saying my thyroid tests were normal) was my low body temperature. My temp is totally normal now...and I have been able to stop wearing the underlayers of clothing and polartec socks even in summer. I have, after almost 7 months of treatment. But I have read hair and skin takes about 6 months before noticeable improvement. Cindi
Guest guest
God bless you, ! I'm so happy for you! Please do keep us posted on how you are doing! in Va. I had to share my story with you all. I have been struggling finding someone that would listen about my hypothyroid problems. My current dr wouldn't send me to an endo dr and I couldn't find an endo dr that would take me without a referral. Well my family dr saw me two weeks ago and since the Levothyroxine wasn't helping me he decided that I just needed to quit taking it and that was that. When I asked him about Armour or trying something else to see if it would help he just stated that my labs showed normal and I didn't need anything. When I told him that at my last appointment 5 weeks ago, he said he was putting me on Levothyroxine to keep my thyroid from enlarging he replied, " but your labs were normal and you just said the levothyroxine wasn't helping you. So you just need to quit taking it them. " I guess there isn't any other choice to him! Anyway, I am done with him and have found a new dr. I saw the new dr (Dr. Cole) today that is a DO/Naturopathic dr. I gave him all my history and told him what my test results from the labs as well as the ultrasound showed(Dr Handshaw's office hasn't sent my records to Dr Cole yet). He said, " I don't treat the labs here, I treat the patient. " Boy was that music to my ears! He talked about a lot of things and all the choices I had. He also said we will look for the cause as well. They cut some of my hair to send off for a hair analysis. He said I should have the results in 4-6 weeks. Best of all he perscribed me Armour!! Yippeee!! I have heard so much about it from you guys that I am looking forward to finally feeling normal again! I will let you guys know how I am doing in a couple of weeks. I want to take a moment to thank all of you. I have learned so much from you by reading the posts and the personal stories. This is a great forum to help reach out to individuals that are learning about what is going on with them. Thanks.
