advice on 10-20mg Elavil, please

Hi! Well, I'm doing it. I'm trying the anti-depressant route. She prescribed amitryptilene (Elavil), 10mg a day to start, up to 20mg in 2 weeks. She said I would be very tired for about 3 weeks, but the other side effects shouldn't occur with this low of a dosage. What I'm not sure I get is how this low of a dosage is going to do anything for the V pain. I welcome any thoughts and advice! Thanks, Becky __________________________________________________
