Congrats!!!!!! That's a very big and exciting accomplish. It also

makes our kids look so normal.

How cool !!

A child is like a butterfly in the wind, some fly faster, some fly harder but

they all fly the best they can. Each one is different, each one is beautiful

and each one is special.

Do any of you remember that I posted a while back about my 5 year old son

requesting to have his training wheel taken off? I cringed at the thought

because I know balance is an issue and I did not want to see him fail. Many

of you gave me suggestions on how to do this.

Anyway, tonight my son was riding his bike (starting, stopping and full

deal) all by himself. I was astounded! I attribute much of this to his

animal assisted therapy (horseback riding). We have it on video cam,

digital cam, THE WORKS! I am so proud! I am glad that my son believed in

himself enough to take the plunge even though his mom did not have faith (I

feel awful!). Knowing him, he probably knew how I felt but persevered

anyway. These kids teach us more than we could ever teach them!

That is wonderful news! I just wanted to comment since my own 4 yr old

apraxic son JUST learned to pedal one week ago and now can FINALLY ride his

bike (w/ training wheels). I can't tell you the joy I felt when I saw that

he could do it; he was BURSTING with pride, he kept telling our neighbors,

" i ride bike, I ride bike, look! " I was almost in tears. The neighbors

must have thought I was a psycho, but they are aware of his issues so maybe

they understood. who cares. that was an amazing day.

YEAH!!!! I now have hope for Josh who is still trying just to keep his feet on

the pedals (velcro and duct tape have not worked - any other suggestions??)

I am so happy for you! The look on the children's faces means so

much!!

I had a similar experience 3 summers ago when my son who is EMR

joined the Challenger division Little League team. He had quite a

time hitting the ball off the T. The coach worked with him and now

he hits a thrown ball. I got all mistly the first time he hit it and

he was beside himself.

I highly recommend Challenger division baseball to anyone with a

child with any disability. We attended a tournament in May that had

70 teams from 8 states. If you would like to see how much fun our

My son is Wesley! I have been the biggest cheerleader for this type

of baseball because it has done so much for my son.

My daughter has just been through a screening with our pediatric

specialist. She is almost 3 and has 2 words. The doctor did not give

any diagnosis per se, only prescribed speech twice a week and OT

once a week. Will the speech therapist assign a diagnosis?

I have only recently discovered these boards. Have alot of catching

up to do. What is the prognosis for children with verbal apraxia? Is

there any data showing long term info?

I'm guessing the same way to get to carneige hall. practice, practice,

practice. :-) Hope just got on her quad for the first time this year. She

got it for her second birthday and rade it. Last eyar she didnt want

anything to do with it. This year apparently she's going to ride it again.

She just has to remember to keep her foot on the pedle so it goes.

Thanks to all of you who responded to my email about my son riding a bike. I
