Guest guest
This is not my first time on the diet but it is my 1st post to this Yahoo list. I'm an old-timer & was a member of the old Long Island Listserve many moons ago. My story is: I'm 39 year old female, diagnosed 8 1/2 years ago w/ UC. I'm presently on Asacol (2-3X daily). For 8 years,I have been on and off SCdiet & up until 5 days I was definitely OFF! I went into a bad flare 2 weeks ago & have been trying to get things under control w/ the diet. I am still on intro diet but did try to add a banana (ripe w/ spots)last night. It didn't go well! My biggest issue right now is that I get nauseous when my stomach is empty. I am eating very little because my flare not only brought major D with it, I also have terrible pains (I think gas) after I eat. I can't seem to pin-point what is causing the most trouble so here's my diet: DCCC with some cinnomon & may be a drop of vanilla-I warm it up in microwave, homemade chicken soup (follwed directions exactly except chose not to add pureed carrots into final product (did simmer soup w/ them)since D was so active), 24 hr fermented yogurt w/ honey, some chicken from soup & some which I baked (legs/thighs w/ butter, olive oil, slat, pepper), Mott's 100% natural applesauce, Welch's grape juice (1/2 water), decaf tea w/ honey and 1 darn bannana. I get so hungry, especially at night, that I start to get the dry heaves. Last night I ate that bannana because I thought it would carry me through the night but I ended up being awake from 4-5:30 AM w/ horrible pains & D, & then I thought I was going to throw up. I made some decaf tea & spooned down as much yogurt as I could , & that calmed the naseua. Any advice as to how to stay full & avoid this? I have failed to remain on this diet many times but I am so ready to do it this time. I am turning 40 in the spring & I realize that I wasted so many of my 30-something years running to bathrooms, avoiding social/travel situations, being sick & having less time for my family (I have a wonderful husband & 2 beautiful boys ages 5 & 9). I have never been this committed & ironically, I've never had this hard of a time on the diet. Any advice would be appreciated.
