Has anyone tried a showerhead filter? I live in an apartment so I can't use any point-of-entry/whole house water filters or do anything otherwise permanent to my apartment, but I've seen shower heads with built-in filters. Does anyone know if this even actually filters enough of the chemicals and impurities out to be worth it? They're not expensive, which is great for me, but sometimes makes me wonder if it works. Louisville, KY is supposed to have some of the cleanest water in the nation, but what's clean enough for your belly doesn't necessarily mean clean enough for the ailing girl parts...Advice?? At the moment I have this horrible burning, raw rash around my anal area and a couple of bumps on the vulva and while showering, even with natural mild soap (and never even on those areas) and shampoo, I still itch after a shower and since this is acting up again it's even worse.

I also live in an apartment and use an Aquasana shower filter. If the filter cartridge is replaced as specified, the chlorine level, judging by

my nose, my tastebuds, and my pool water chlorine-checking strips,

IS greatly reduced -- which could well help with your irritation. And

breathing in chlorine gas, in general, is just not a healthy thing at

all. I just wish that there was an equally simple way to filter fluoride,

but there isn't. I'd definitely get one. The less exposure to toxic

chemicals like chlorine, the better.
