Hi girls

I was wondering if anyone else on here has this awful disease, I had

a punch biopsy done and it came back as a mild licheoid reaction

amongst other things ( rather large medical terms that i have no

idea how to pronunce lol) and inflammation, they concluded i had

Lichen Sclerosis.

I can't help wondering though that as ive been also diagonsed with

systemic candadia that this may be causing most of the pain and

symtoms im feeling " down there " . The first time i took difulcan i

was nearly pain free, it was bliss but then had to go on a series of

very high dose antibiotcs and now my problem is at the worst its

ever been.

Has anyone else had or having a similar expereince? the mere

thought of LS scares me to death, all the shrinking, fusing tearing

and the no cure.

Big hugs to you all

Janelle

Hi Janelle:

I have Lichen Sclerosis, but it's " inactive " right now. I never fused

or had tearing. However, I also have Vulvar Vestibulitis, so I have

burning from that. The Clobetasol ointment has helped me a lot. I

used to have burning 24/7, but now it's just once in awhile except for

when I have a pelvic exam/pap and pain from having a transvaginal

ultrasound. It's been several years since I've attempted sex b/c I

haven't had any libido for quite awhile and b/c I'm afraid of the pain

from intercourse. I'll be having my hormone levels tested in January.

I use Estrace cream daily and it helps for the most part. There's no

cure for Lichen Sclerosis, but it can be controlled with medication.

I hope you find some pain relief. Sue

Hi ,

Thanks for the email. I guess I am reassured to find

out that they have mostly told you what you are being

tested for--I think the baker's and the brewer's yeast

are the most important because I never see anywhere

else where there is any other edible yeast in an

ingredient section (unless it is kefir grains or

probiotics) or maybe other kinds of what seems to be

more popular fermented foods (which I won't touch).

I don't think anybody needs to be tested for candida

as it is a fungus that everybody has in lessor or more

degree. It is when it gets overgrown and we have an

" infection " that keeps coming back that it is a

problem. This of course might mean we have diabetes

and there is constant glucose in the urine and system

and it feeds the candida. In fact I don't know if

there is such a thing as an allergy test for candida.

That makes me curious and I am wondering if there is

such a thing as a test for an IgA reaction to candida

specifically since we who are sensitive to gluten have

the same kind of autoimmune attack from candida that

we have from eating gluten apparently. I doubt it

though as the research saying the gluten and candida

cross react is fairly new. I wish that somebody would

really study this as it is so important for women

especially I think in regard to gyn and urinary

problems. If they can ever get to the bottom of this

gluten and candida thing, I think a lot of problems

will be solved.

I don't have any confidence in allergy testing for

foods for one reason because every doctor I ever asked

about it told me that allergy testing for foods

doesn't work. It doesn't work I think because they

test for the wrong reactions. Since you are gluten

sensitive you will probably test out for allergies to

many foods which will be unhelpful as nobody can

really do that deprivation. When the small intestine

heals from gluten damage the allergies really often

lessen and aren't very important. Another reason why I

have no faith in allergy tests is because my son and I

had many allergists test us, tell us all the things we

were allergic to and none of it made any difference

because nobody can cut so many things out of a diet.

The main problems weren't identified--they were IgA

reactions to gluten, dairy, baker's and brewer's yeast

for the most severe and debilitating. I had to be

sixty and got a computer before I finally figured it

out for myself and found Enterolab. My son was 33

after a lifetime of sickness for both of us. The

allergic reactions aren't the same thing as the IgA

reactions.

When I eat kefir which has saccaromyces cerevisiae I

have instant and severe stomach pain. It certainly

could cause different kinds of reactions. They seem to

do different things to different people.

Anyway, thanks for your answer. I guess it helps to

talk about this stuff. It does me--sort of straightens

a few things out.
