Hey sandi that was me actually, It was re: cyst forms of lymes treatment instead of flagyl being added to doxy, she is trialing grapefruit seed extract in place of flagyl. In vitro shows it kills the spore/cyst form of the bacteria better than flagyl. It can be used in addition to the cats claw for natural treatment without antibiotics in case someone cannot tolerate the antis. hope this helps, and also, this just came out in November ILADS convention, so Im not sure if the research paper is available yet. Dr M may have something, and since you were once a patient of hers she may have something in writing. Love Sandi Sharp wrote: Hi ladies, SOmeone, (, , Tami,???) said that Dr. M had just come back from a conference where she learned that cat's claw by itself was just as or almost as effective in treating Lyme than the antibiotics. Does anyone have any proof of this, ie. a report or article? My doc at the FFC treats with doxy and Flagyl, Benicar and Cat's Claw as well as other supplements and antifungals. I want to ask him if he knows anything about the all natural approach and would like to have some study or article to support it. THANKS, Sandi Have a burning question? Go to Yahoo! NO prob Sandi, you are correct on the med replacements with the cats claw and gfse. It gives someone an alternative to antis if they are allergic or cannot tolerate them, or for those who are just plain scared, however like lindsey said some people cant take herbs, so its trial and error I am still complelety pain free in the v area, I still an exhausted and muscle soreness from light exhaustion, but I feel normal, I am happy. I will be on the doxy for 3 months and we are gonna go from there, I added the gfse , I think I have to be on oral meds for up to 6-12 months, the therory with lyme is to treat till symptoms dissappear then , off meds for three months without replapse, that would mean I am in remission and my immune is handling the buggers. I cant wati till you treat ur lyme sandi, Love Sandi Sharp wrote: Thanks , So...is that saying that the cat's claw takes the place of doxy and the grapefruit seed extract takes the place of Flagyl? Also , do you have any v pain? Are you still taking the meds? If so, how long do you plan on taking them? THANKS! Love, Sandi __________________________________________________
