Can someone recommend a physical therapist that works on pelvic floor

muscles in Chicago? When I asked my doctor for a referral, she

referred me to a psychotherapist (Sex therapist) who seemed really

nice, but was not a physical therapist and charged like 200 dollars a

session.

ANyway, any recommendations are well appreciated,

Hi Mara--

The best physical therapist in the country, and the woman who developed the

techniques

that are helpful for us, is in Chicago. Her name is Ronda Kotarinos (not totally

sure about

the spelling).

Hi,

Just adding my two cents *smile* Until you find out whats

causing your pelvic floor issues you miswell stay in physical

therapy all your life. I would go to phsyical therapy for 3 months

got the pelvic floor stable and bam with in 2 months it was back. I

did this yoyo back an forth for a couple of years. I even invested

in a pelvic floor stimulator. Unless I worked on it everyday for the

rest of my life it's gonna go back to clenching. I new the true way

to fix my pelvic floor problem was to find what the cause was. Thats

a whole mess of it's self. Most of chronic pelvic pan and pelvic

floor tension suffers dont know why there sick. Just my experiance.

Good Luck. By the way my friend Kathy went to chicago and I think

she had a good experiance? I do remember her saying if you go it's

best to dedicate your self to atleast 6 weeks of therapy. My memory

is not so great. Im pretty sure thats correct.

Kind Regards, Tami

Hi, Between my husband, myself, and my PT, I had very serious therapy every day for a year. We did internal work and external trigger point work and skin rolling every day, sometimes twice a day for a year. I still do PT on myself and my husband still does it when he wants sex. I can guess what is causing my clenching. A jammed torqued pelvis, bad posture (not so bad as anyone has ever commented on it), hypermobility and sacroilliac joint dysfunction. I am constantly working on all these things. I would commit to six months of therapy if I were you and a year is certainly better and I would plan on having some kind of PT for the rest of my life. So what is the cause and how are you doing? love, Molly And yes, of course Mara, go to Rhonda Kotarinos, she is the best.Tami Schneider

Dear all, thank you for your kind words and advice. I will certainly

consider investing in physical therapy, even though it may not be tbe

solution I'm sure it will not hurt (except maybe my wallet, but it's

worth a shot). Sadly, it seems that after a couple of months of no

pain, I'm having another " episode. " I really don't know what triggers

my inflammation, I've been through the gamma of tests, allergies etc.

I have only had one yeast infection in my life, and I think I have one

now, but I want to wait until my period to see if it goes away, since I

no longer trust hard medication (my first episode happened after an

overdose of antibiotics, yeast infection misdiagnoses and accompanying

topical and oral treatments). The only thing that I did different

these last few weeks was that I went on vacation and maybe did not

exercise as regularly as I usually do, but I'm still a healthy eater.

I'm hoping my period will reset my body, and I won't have to endure

months of pain again, but I just don't know. sigh.

what a way to start the new year.

wishing you all the best,

m
