colonoscopy prep ... me too

Hi everyone,

well, I had my pre-colonoscopy appointment with the gastro doc

today. I've never had a colonoscopy before, nor have I ever seen a

gastro doc. So as you can imagine, I was quite apprehensive about

this appointment, considering all the horror stories I've read here.

Seems my doc is familiar with SCD. He brought up the topic of diet

and how some forms of carbohydrates are not digested by some people

and can cause huge problems, especially if there are other disease or

conditions present as well. He said that symptom relief and even

total healing of the colon can occur with diet alone, but it's a very

good idea to take a look to eliminate the possibility of other

problems (other than IBS) being present.

Jodi, like you I am overwhelmed by the thought of taking 4 Dulcolax

pills. Usually, just taking a look at a laxative throws me into days

of D. I'll take them nevertheless just to make sure that I'm as

clean as can be.

One of my concerns is the Gatorade. I'll search the archives for

what others have used instead.

My other concern is not getting enough protein while on the clear

liquid diet the day before. My blood sugar tends to drop when I

don't eat protein. Anyone have any suggestions?
