Guest guest
, sorry for the hassle you are going through. A few weeks ago, I posted on how we lost our respite funding because of the waiver funding, so I know what you are going through. Our respite was in the form of funding to allow us to pay for services workers and then get reimbursed. ajojoga <promom11@...> wrote: I have been admiring from afar, all you are doing to help your children. Thank you for all the wisdom you have shared. We were halted from our respite once the state had notified the respite agency of our medicaid waiver funding. The respite agency refused to pay our workers from June 1st, even though they did not notify us of ceasing our funding until the second week of July....to the tune of $615. We are stuck in a paperwork holding pen while we get going with Access. I am trying not to be discouraged, and we are trying to privately pay to hang on to our workers, so we do not have to start from scratch in looking for new people. I wanted to share this story as in a previous post, someone had stated the intentions of the services, going one from the other, were to be seamless, but the paperwork to " terminate one before the other " creates an abyss. We will keep on keeping on! Finato www.AngelSpeaks.com www.wegrowdreams.org

Guest guest
You are not alone!!!! So much confusion, so many mininformed, uniformed professionals!! In my personal case with my son, I received so much wrong information that in the end, we were done out money for the month of April to our caregivers and I paid this out of my pocket. We cancelled the respid care, as we were told to do initially as soon as we received the award letter, FIRST MISTAKE. DO NOT CANCEL ANY PROGRAM UNTIL THE OTHER IS IN PLACE. I had a difficult time finding a service facilitator to take on the case, and trouble getting a hold of someone at ACES$ to get papers completed. I was told, DONT WORRY, does not matter when the papers are completed, everything will be retroactive, SECOND MISTAKE. THE TRUTH IS, services for the waiver cannot start until you get the federal number and that is assigned once the papers are completed and filed by ACES$. I think in this journey we have asked a lot of questions, and made a lot of people accountable to find out correct information, I dont give up easily. Infact my so called service facilitator is learning a lot too!!!!! Time is of the essence! Once you or anyone you know gets the award letter, they need to contact ACES$ and find a service facilitator IMMEDIATELY to get the ball rolling. Too many times people do not act promptly, and assume all will be taken care of. No one will take care of it like you do!!! We as parents need to help pass on information so that everyone is treated fairly. So dont feel alone, you have many, many people in the same boat just at different points on the river!! Guest guest
I found this to be true also, with my son moving into a group home. I mistakenly thought we'd have a smooth transition. I've had to do their job on getting his State ID changed, rep. payee., getting info on dr's visits, (they wanted to change his docs to whom they use.) Am hoping the stress level goes down soon. Guest guest
When our girl move into a ICF/DD I refused to change the rep. payee. I left everything the same and I write them a check on the 2nd of the month after it is deposited in her account. The facility has there own doctors but we still take her to her previous doctor. Medicaid pays for everything at the ICF/DD. Her own doctor is payed by our private insurance with the co-pay being payed by Medicaid. I refused to turn all things over to the facility. It's my understanding that they need to do a IPP (Individual Personal Plan) with in 30 days of moving into a facility. You can request various items to be written in the plan. Hope this helps TED -- www.mccannon.net McCannon Enterprises 45W134 Rd.
