Tonight I'm furious at the pharmacy here. As a result of their screw-ups I've been taking twice the amount of dilantin daily than I should have! The end of January I went for my regular session with the neuro here and he renewed all my perscriptions - but because of the new insurance I have he had to write two persc. for each medicine -- one for 3 months total to get around here and one for the rest of the year to send into Caremark - the new persc. provider. I'd taken in a list of what I take and the amounts & dosage. He sat there and wrote each med twice, one after another and in the amounts I told him. The pharmacy here filled the first month's dilantin and put the wrong amount on the label -- they said take 1/2 tablet daily. I knew that was screwey as I've been taking four, so I continued taking more. Then time for the refill in March which I called in & they do the same screwey thing on the label but were short 20 pills so I was supposed to come in later to pick them up. Did so today with the empty container to show the pharmacist the "bad label". That jerk says they're not responsible for changes in the amounts -- that is between the doctor and me, and was the dosage different? these were 50 mg. So....I get home & check on the bottles I got the other day from Caremark and those are 25 mg. and 4 per day. I KNOW the doctor didn't write two completely different persc. for the same thing when he wrote them one after another! And there's not a damned thing I can do about it. Have had some wierd symptoms lately but nothing to call 911 about -- but some medicines could do that to you!

Moral to the story for everyone-- check the amounts & dosage each time you get refills! but particularly the first time a persc. is filled.
