Guest guest
, Thanks for the info. I have some of the same things she did...along with elevated testosterone and excess body hair (have to shave legs every day!) and insomnia and some of the other. Maybe this is why the prednisolone is helping me? Do you know exactly why the prednisone is given for this condition? And is that the only thing she takes? And I'm still a little unsure how one obtains a diagnosis on this? Thanks for info. Cindi

Guest guest
Sure Cindi, Her symptoms began at puberty age 10ish, Acne, insomnia, bone pain. Her worst was the acne, nothing helped it...lots of doctors later I said check her hormones & her DHEAs were sky high...testosterone too I think? The doctor didn't have a clue! I never did get her test copies ...it took from age 10-age 19 to get DX'd. The Dermatologist should have caught it since nothing had an effect on her skin. Her periods were/are like clock-work, she didn't get PMS ever, her height is probably above average, she's 5'8 and of normal weight...she's always had a lot of muscle mass & was/is very active and healthy. I thought that she had PCOS & tried Pro-Gest cream on her for a few months...that did not help anything that she could tell. At age 20 she went to a health dept and got tested and they referred her to an Endo at OHSU in Portland. She was really put through the tests and finally DX'd with LOCAH & put on 2.5mg of Prednisone....her skin is clear & all healed up beautifully...she feels great, but always felt well...her other symptom was having a Moon-shaped face & excess body hair ...but she's olive complicated with almost black hair, so I never thought much of that...but she was always concerned about it. I hope to get tested within the next month or so. Best to you, ----- Original Message ----- this is interesting that this is being mentioned. I have considered that I have late onset adrenal hyperplasia and that is why the Delta is helping me. Can you tell me more about her symptoms? I also know my mom's autopsy showed adrenal hyperplasia. Guest guest
I know many people with Locah and Cah. Pred seems to work best 2.5 seems to be the base amount for my friends as well. I may go up somewhat in dosage or down. Very few Dr's really seem to understand the disease. My best friend and her grandmother have been to any DR's over the years. One DR told nana that it is a miracle she survived to get treatment. Guest guest
I don't know why exactly she takes the Prednisone. I haven't been able to go with her to her Endo, yet. Yes that's the only thing she takes...think it's been 2 years or more. I'd love to see her lab results, lol...She had a lot of testing done, I don't know the results or how he DX'd her...If I ever find out I'll let you know. I'm so curious...she's young and doesn't really care...just takes her RX and does well with it. Re: adrenal hyperplasia/Cindi , Thanks for the info.
