Tommorow I see my managing Internist. I think you all agreed that

Miralax works better than Colace...right... and For Bladder infections

I should always have Bactrim close by... These are the two Rx's I need

to ask for is that right?

Wrong!

Colace works fine for many people. Bactrim is a sulfa drug

and causes an allergic reaction to sunlight in many people. Your

doctor is a much better judge of what is best for you than any of us.

Take care, Bill and Charlotte

I just finished a round of Bactrim, I know about the sunlight problem.

However Colace only worked for about 3 weeks, and my neurologist

doesn't want to prescribe anything he wants the internist to do that.

However my internist has admitted to me he has never treated any one

with this problem (MSA) and relays on me to help him by bring

research. He and I have learned together.

I was just wanting to know what has worked for others. Can women tell

me what has worked for them for bladder infection/control and not

caused vaginal yeast problems.

Celeste,

Get to a doctor whom knows what he is doing with this disease!

In my opinion, the Neurologist would better qualified to prescribe the

correct medicines for a neurological disease.

If this Neurologist can't handle you care, fire him and get a competent

doctor, preferably a doctor who treats movement disorders.

God Bless,

Jim Stark

Celeste,

MiraLax is what Rob uses (and several others) and it works well for

him. I do agree with Bill that you should discuss this with your

doctor and use the least amount of medication that you can. However,

chronic constipation is not only uncomfortable, it can be dangerous,

so be sure what you have works!

I don't have any special remedy for bladder infections that doesn't

cause yeast problems. I used to get a lot of bladder infections

myself (and I'm NOT the one with MSA!) and as I recall they always

did a " culture and sensitivities " test, where they grow some of

the " bug " that's causing the infection and see what works against

it. That way they aren't just giving an all purpose antibiotic, but

targeting the specific problem. Just a thought...

Good luck with the doctor!
