That's why I consider the people in this group my friends. Lets go back to the old way, please. Carolyn New " Posting Guidlines " hmmmmm >Hi all, >I think I understand, and in theory, agree with the new posting guidelines, however, in practice I am not sure if I like them. I feel like I am " missing out " on a lot of the fun - but more importantly on some information. I have posted a couple of things and received direct replies - and thought - hmmmm someone else might have needed to know this. It was just something " nibbling " at the back of my mind until today. >I got a reply to a comment on the OSSG Canada site from a person considering WLS. As I often do, I suggested the person come and " lurk " here - I always wish this site had been here all those years ago for me. Reading what the " reality " of the different surgeries are, how often certain issues and " themes " resurface, being able to see some connections between particular issues and particular procedures, realizing that the surgeons and doctors often DON'T know what " we " need is, I think invaluable (and I have received posts from MANY people I have sent to " lurk " here that confirm my thoughts that this site is an important resource for them and very helpful in them being able to advocate for their own health, to know to ask the right questions and make choices that are good for them) When I was suggesting lurking here to the new person I began to wonder if we will lose not only information we can use, but will we lose information that others who lurk can use? >What do you guys think? OK - I miss all the cat comments, and such that I find great fun, but maybe we are getting too " big " to keep doing that on site - but any questions vaguely related to health (weight loss related or otherwise) well I think we will lose that - I am thinking about my post a while ago about my freezing fingers and toes - my one post brought me, and others, information on Raynauds and a whole lot of other really important things. I know that I was not the only one that benefited from that thread - what if all the replies had come to me directly? Many of you would have missed information you needed and I would have also because a lot of replies were not to MY initial post - but to someone else's reply to my post. >OK - somewhere in there I think I made my point. What do others think about this? >Please reply " to all " so we can have a little discussion > >(OK - I need to add a little confession - I have not really even figured out email yet and now you want me to learn something new? Guest guest
<<What do others think about this? Please reply " to all " so we can have a little discussion>> I enjoy getting ALL the info. If the topic is not of interest, I just delete. I'd rather get too much info than not enough. And I do sorta enjoy the " catcalls " . BTW, I have a dog and a cat, but I only let the cat up in my lap. So I guess I'm a cat person. Guest guest
I am new to the group so I am more than happy to go along with the majority, however, I only get email through work so on Mondays it can be a bit overwhelming, but I do enjoy reading everyone's posts and I am learning an awful lot and I hope when I send personal emails sharing my experiences that I am of some help and inspiration. Being 7 years post-op has given me lots of time to try different methods to being as " normal " as possible. Happy Wednesday to all!
