So what changed for you to start losing weight? Are you on something to

lower your glucose?

glucose, serum 102 mg/dl (65-99) high

--------------------------------------------

This is considered prediabetes now. Ask for an insulin test to see if

insulin levels are high indicating insulin resistance. My glucose has been

running in the low 100's and I believed I was insulin resistant because I

just could not lose weight at all. My insulin level was high and I got

diagnosed and I'm finally losing weight

Hi, ,

Thanks. NOthing seems to be abnormal. My white blood cell count was 4.9

x 10E3/uL (4.0-10.5).

Basos is 0% ((0-3)

Eos (absolute) is 0.0 x10E3/uL (0.0-0.4)

Baso (absolute) is 0.0 x10E3/uL (0.0-0.2)

I have NO idea what this stuff is about! LOL

The monocytes (absolute) is 0.3 x10E3/uL (0.1-1.0)

My husband had noticed that my potassium was on the low side, 3.9 with

normal being (3.5-5.5)

Thanks for your interest!

PS I finally remembered to call the doctor's office about my

homocysteine level. But I had to leave

a message. Hopefully, they'll call tomorrow.

, was there anything abnormal on the CBCs? If there was, then go

ahead

and post them or if you see anything reallly really borderline.

HI,

Thanks for all this info! Are you taking something for high insulin?

I was diagnosed with fatty liver in 1997. At the time, it was the

alkaline phosphatase that was high. Then everything was normal (after I

changed my diet) and they didn't test my liver function for a long time.

I've read that Effexor can cause these enzymes to be elevated. So I

don't know.

Is there a special name for this insulin testing?

Thanks again!

I do have the CBC results. Let me know if you want me to post them.

The basic metabolic panel:

glucose, serum 102 mg/dl (65-99) high

--------------------------------------------

This is considered prediabetes now. Ask for an insulin test to see if

insulin levels are high indicating insulin resistance. My glucose has

been running in the low 100's and I believed I was insulin resistant

because I just could not lose weight at all. My insulin level was high

and I got diagnosed and I'm finally losing weight

------------------------------------------

Hepatic Function panel:

Protein, Total, serum 6.8 g/dL (6.0-8.5)

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

.........................................................................

............................................................

....

Albumin, serum 4.3 (3.5-5.5)

Bilirubin, Total 0.5 (0.1-1.2)

Bilirubin, Direct .11 (0.00-0.40)

Alkaline Phosphatase, serum 84 IU/L (25-150)

AST (SGOT) 45 (0-40) HIGH

ALT (SGPT) 74 (0-40) HIGH

-------------------------------------------

elevated liver enzymes are often a result of fatty liver that can be

from insulin resistance and/or weight gain. I have fatty liver as a

result of the insulin resistance and probably the thyroid weight as

well.

====================================

Lipid panel:

Cholesterol, total 208 mg/dL (100-199) HIGH (I'm not

worried about this. I think it's come down 30 points since I've been

taking omega fish oils and policosanol)

Triglycerides 123 (0-149) (Thrilled with

this. It's usually high.)

HDL cholesterol 57 (40-59)

VLDL cholesterol Cal 25 (5-40)

LDL cholesterol Calc 126 (0-99) HIGH (This should go

down when I get back to exercising.)

LDL/HDL ratio 2.2 ratio units (0.0-3.2)

----------------------------------------

As you know high cholesterol is part vof being hypo, also insulin

resistance is responsible for high cholesterol levels as well. You have

the sigs for insulin resistance; elevated glucose, elevated liver

enzymes, and elevated cholestrol. Please look into further testing. I

had to push for it.

------------------------------------

Remember my fasting glucose (above) was high. But:

Hemoglobin A1C 5.4 % (4.5-5.7)

Glucose, two-hour postprandial 104 (65-139)

===============================

My A1C was normal as well at 5.1, yet Im still insulin resistant. A1C is

a better test when you are diabetic.
