Guest guest
Well, it was bound to happen at some point. I'm on hold from the transplant waiting list pending a cardiology review. I had a bit of chest pain last night on dialysis. I'm convinced it was just digestive, as I've had for years, off and on, but my nephrologist said it had to be checked out. It wasn't excruciating pain or anything, more like a pressure or spasm that came and went. My neph phoned the transplant coordinator himself by 9:30 this morning. I'm not losing much though, realistically. Let me explain. By sheer coincidence, the transplant coordinator had just scheduled my 2-year review yesterday anyway. So, she already had appointments set-up for me yesterday for an echocardiogram and a heart stress test. Since this was going to be done anyway, the only thing I'm losing is the time I now have to be on hold until I get those tests done (February 4) and the cardiologist reports back to the transplant team. Without the chest pain, I would have had the same appointment for those two tests, but I would not have been on hold in the meantime. Since I'm not at the top of the list right now, it doesn't really make that much difference - of course, as long as I pass the evaluation again. In the meantime, I'm to go to emerg at the first sign of chest pain. So, I thought I had better let all of you know what's going on. I wouldn't want any of you to pray for something that can't happen - at least not for a few weeks. I had better start getting in shape for that stress test! I can't say I've been exercising as much as I should lately. Except for a few days here and there, it's kind of cold out : ) Pierre
