Guest guest
But have you guys pulled all your labs and COMPARED your protein and iron levels to see where you are comparatively. If it took a constant level of 7.2 to hold onto your hair and you are steadily maintaining 6.8, it's nice, but not good enough. ALSO, you will have hair loss again 4-6 months post-op from plastics, knees or extensive dental work. Not only does the anesthesia put a dent in it, but your protein took a dip. I know you took a LITTLE more, Alice, but you gotta be serious about BEEFING UP protein 6-7 weeks before AND after. You can imagine my shock and horror after my revision to be having hair loss again, for the 3rd time at 4 months. WHAT THE.........? Not me, the protein queen! I KNEW I'd been taking 180g+ a day for months 'n months. BUT, there was a period when I was too nauseated to get that much in consistently, AND there's anesthesia, sooooooooooo....... Thanks, www.vitalady.com https://secure.paypal.com/affil/pal=vitalady%40bigfoot.com hair loss > I, too, have been experiencing hair loss again - something that ceases to > worry me anymore, but is a passing wonder....I am 15 months post op. Guest guest
> > unfortunately michelle is so disgustingly right about this! ************** hmm, I spose I'd rather be disgutingly right than just disgusting! > i did double my normal dose of protein supps. for 8 weeks > before my TT/hernia and was still doing them at 11 wks after > and thank god because then i had the emergency surgery for > the adhesions. the ONLY reason i had continued to do them > more than 8 weeks past the hernia repair was that i had > blood work done and my protein had actually dropped slightly > from the lab work done 2mo. prior to my hernia repair! i > was not thilled that it was a couple tenths of a point lower > considering 16 weeks of doubling my supplements daily! **************** this was fascinating to me as I've not known anyone to actually HAVE before/after labs to see how much of a dent it does to us. But knowing exactly where you were before you doubled up and where you were after doubling/having surgery, well, fascinating. I only knew that when I had my TT, I was OK going in, and full protein deficiency afterward. They told us to double AFTER, but I think that's too late. We need something to feed that wound ON BOARD when it happens. It's going to start healing right there on the table, so it had BETTER have some protein to heal WITH or it'll go after something we need! > well its' not quite three weeks since my emergency surgery > and the only thing i can blame my speedy recovery on is the > damn protein and vits. with the past three surgeries at > 2.5-3 weeks i was still needing a nap, most days not leaving > the house and just really taking it slow. maybe because > this incision is barely 4 " , maybe because of the extra > protien, maybe because my bosses freaked out and couldn't > stand the idea of me being out again so soon - but i have > worked 30hr. + for the last two weeks already. ************* Oh mannnnnnnn, the post-op fatigue. gotta be the backlash of the anesthesia, as well as all our resources running to the crisis point. Like the little towns where everyone in town runs to the big fire to help, and leaves no one at the fire house to answer the other incoming calls. Same thing with our protein (and other elements). There has to be a big enough " staff " to handle the emergency and routine requests. i just got > over the hair loss which was very minor from the oct. > surgery so now i should be lucky enough to experience it > again in a few months. ************** Yeah, why I'm delaying getting the repair I need to one of my plastics. I dont' want to pay or hurt or rest or have fatigue or go through another hair loss. The whole thing just makes me grumpy. > but you do need to always get copies of your blood work and > compare them to see whats going up or down, not just that > they are in the normal range. **************** WITH YOUR OWN EYES. We have more control over our labs now than we ever had in our lives. It's very empowering to know you can MAKE yourself healthier in so many controllable areas! > Sue > > > > > >
Guest guest
Hi everyone Im still kinda slow answering posts as I tire so easily. When I began losing my hair I took a capsule called Biotin, available at stores like GNC. It helped and eventually stopped all together. I did lose it in handfulls though and it was scary while it was happening. It has all grown back and no one could ever see any bald spots.
