Guest guest
Hi Tom, thanks for the response, although I've had to go back and re-read it trying to understand all this ! Would you have any diagrams about the nerve roots from the lower part of the spinal cord, say the Lumbar region down and what organs they affect? Best I can understand what you're saying is: the nerves around the crooked part of my tailbone are firing and irritating the muscles and the muscles are sending feedback to the brain, thus more firing of nerves and so on? Is that even a little bit correct?!!! Would it be absurd to simply try my best not to sit down for a while and see if the nerves and muscles would calm down? But how long? I thought about getting a cortisone shot, do you think it would be worth it? I'm so puzzled as to why NOW all the extra pain. As you are familiar with my history, the initial injury was when I gave birth to Josh 10 yrs. ago! Seems like the trip to FL just really set everything off! Oh well, I'm not giving up! What would you do for someone who had a bulging disc? I read that there are actually exercises that you can do to possibly help... Thanks and God Bless,
Guest guest
, Your summary is perfect!! Yes avoiding presure on the tailbone is a great remedy although will take some creativity on your part. Ice and padding are a big help too! Remember to go inside and gentley stretch the muscles as we talked about too! Buling disk exercises are difficult to give without doing an eval first as you can make it worse with the wrong protocols. There is a fairly well know protocl called "extension" or McKenzie protocls for disks which will help to centralize the bulge. Important to mention that millions of people have a bulging or herniated disk but have no symptoms. Also lumbar traction and inversion tables may be helpful at reducing the bulge. Remember though, stretching those PF muscles gently is really necessary to get them to behave! Happy Thanksgiving to all!
