Guest guest
Jane, I am scheduled for a pelvic sonogram this Friday - I was told to drink 4 glasses of water an hour before the procedure. was also told not to go to the bathroom, which i think is going to be very difficult - can anyone tell me how I can prepare for this ? Thank God it's warmer here in NYC now. how can a pelvic sonogram be different from a transvaginal ultrasound - I know the former is outside while the latter is getting a probe inside the vagina. But how can one procedure be better or different than the other ? to check exact location of fibroid ? determine exact size ? determine surgical procedure to be accomplished ? Guest guest
About the water and ultrasound...the last time I went for a regular ultrasound I forgot to drink the water, actually I wasn't even sure it was required anymore with the better u/s machines and I went to the bathroom just before my appt. Anyway, I didn't say anything and no one asked but the u/s came out fine. So who knows? lol Rhonda
Guest guest
just from my own experience, I drink half that amount, or I drink that amount just before I make the drive to the hosp. Works just fine. If you drink that amount an hour before, your bladder and you, can become painful. ;-)! Just my experience. gg Nida Pantaleon wrote: > Jane, > I am scheduled for a pelvic sonogram this Friday - I was told to drink 4 > glasses of water an hour before the procedure. was also told not to go to > the bathroom, which i think is going to be very difficult - can anyone tell > me how I can prepare for this ? Guest guest
Nida, I have had problems with drinking that amount of water also (my fibroid was pressing on my bladder). My first ultrasound was a disaster and resulted in me having the transvaginal ultrasound. So now I just ask the Dr. to put me down for the transvaginal ultrasound and skip the water. They do a regular ultrasound also at the end of the procedure even though I didn't drink the water. They have never had any problems imaging my fibroids this way.
