I don't know if having a tilted uterus (mine is retroverted and retroflexed),

but I suspect that the fibroids may be more symptomatic due to the position of

the uterus...at least the bulk symptoms. If the uterus is tilted it can press

more on the bladder, or the rectum...Most of my symptoms (after the removal of

the peduculated one) were from bulk symptoms.

Hi TX:

You are absolutely right about the " bulk symptoms " with the

retrograde/retroflex uterus. I heard those terms used once to describe my

uterus when I was a teenager but no gyn has mentioned it since. I think that

is why I get the 'bearing down' sensation when I go on my walks. The fibroids

must shift slightly in position during the long walk downhill and put

pressure on the bladder and pelvic muscles, at least that's how it feels to

me.

Thanks for responding and everyone else who did as well. :)

I think you're right - there must be a trend here with the all the tilted

uteruses (or is it uteri?) here. After responding to a previous post (it came

up first) I've been scrolling down and I noticed there is a lot more

responses about this subject. Actually, having a tilted uterus just makes

fibroids so much more problematic with the subsequent pressure on the lower

back and bladder/bowels.

I have a " retroverted " uterus, which I believe means it's tilted

backwards a bit. Who knows why? Interesting question about poss.

relationship between tilting and fibroids.

Just a thought...which came first....the chicken or the egg...

Well, maybe the fibroids are leading to the tipped uterus?

Mine is so tipped that I have to do gymnastics before my GYN can find my cervix

to grab a hold and bring it into view to do my pap. It seems that each year it

was more and more difficult to visulize my cervix. Maybe as the fibroids grew,

it made the uterus more tipped and bent?

Just a thought....
