Hi everyone,

I was just referred to this group by a fellow clitorodynia sufferer

and am hoping it will help get me through this.

I'm 22 years old from Connecticut and have had problems for a while

now, like everyone else! My problems started 3 months ago when i

got bad internal/external itching and i took monistat...it all went

downhill from there- severe itching left, but a few weeks later a

slight internal itch that was not showing up on slides or cultures

came back. It seemed to start later in the day making it even

harder to go to the doc when there were symptoms. I was also

treated for BV at one point, which seemed to get rid of the itch

better than anything else. But then of course the itch came back,

and even worse, i got a constant ache in my clitoral area that got

worse as the day went on and by night-time it was almost an

unbearable ache that radiated throughout my pelvis. I went to a

vulvovaginal specialist and based on my history and the q-tip test

she diagnosed me on the spot with clitorodynia. Prescribed some

lidocaine twice a day for 4-6 weeks and then I have to try to wean

off of it. She thinks my nerves are stuck firing which is causing

the pain and is hoping the lidocaine will break that cycle. She

said I have a relatively minor case compared to most women and is

fairly optimistic that it will completely go away. She also thinks

that the internal itching is the same thing and that by fooling one

nerve will fool the rest since they all have the same root.

I however, am having a hard time being positive with all of this. I

can't help but worry about the itch that is still on the opening to

my vagina (inside). It worries me that maybe my clitoral pain will

go away but the itch won't stop. It worries me that the clitoral

pain won't go away. It worries me that it might go away but come

back in the future. I can't help but think maybe i have a stubborn

imbalance of yeast or bv but she doesn't think so since my

culture/slides have been negative. I can't imagine living the rest

of my life with clitoral pain and internal itch. Any advice would

be greatly appreciated!!!
