Apologies for cross-posting. I'd appreciate some advice and direction on an OT

matter. My husband is not a fan of special diets, but he did try SCD for a

number of weeks to support . Dh was obese and borderline-diabetic at the

time, really enjoyed the honey allowed on SCD and it made his blood sugar rise,

so he quit SCD and has just been eating whatever he wants since then. He went

from borderline to truly diabetic and is now giving himself one shot a day. He

feels lousy and his blood sugar fluctuates wildly. The doctor just upped his

insulin dose. I try to make SCD meals that he likes so that he eats healthier,

at least for dinner, but he keeps buying unhealthy stuff to eat at other times.

I'm about ready to do some SCD time-saving cheats (organic chicken broth in a

package? Spectrum mayo? bottled Italian tomato products?--don't be alarmed;

after 5 years and lots of improvements, it's about time to see if is healed

enough to eat some " regular " foods) so I can devote some time and energy to

getting dh to " tow the line " ...if I can figure out what line he should tow. Dh

claims that the American Diabetes Association says he can eat anything

(chocolate candy, potato chips, International Coffees, Starbucks caramel

macciato whatevers ); that it's not the type of food he eats, it's the quantity.

Any advice for me? Where can I get good information? Are there any outstanding

groups for diabetes that could help me help my dh?

Any advice appreciated.
