Ingredients are: Beetroot powder, preservative e221 (sodium sulphite), anti-oxidants, citric acid, ascorbic acid. Ingredients list also includes 'spices' so I am checking directly with the farm shop to confirm what these are. Can anyone help confirming scd legality? Mike, I would approach these sausages with extreme caution. First, " beet root powder " could be a euphemism for sugar beet sugar, or they may be using the powder for something else. What's in that beet root powder, and why are they using it? Is it for coloration, perhaps? (Sausage made without nitrates or nitrites often does not have the pretty pink coloration we associate with commercially made sausage.) I'd want to know what the anti-oxidants are. And " spices " can be the kiss of death. You don't know what's in the spices. Some people consider sugar and starch to be a " spice. " If you do find out what they're using (and it's often onion and/ or garlic powder), you then have to find out if the onion and garlic powder is pure. This is why commercial products are a pain in the keister. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund
