Guest guest
Fit For Life Not Fat For Life by Harvey Diamond http://www.fitforlifetime.com/ Check your local library or to purchase, try Alibris or Amazon. I'm reading it now & haven't put into action any of the recommendations, but plan to try it soon to see if it helps. I have yeast overgrowth & should be avoiding fruits, so I'm not sure how to balance his suggestion to eat fruit until 12pm, which I would love to do! But, he has a point that we should be eating more live foods than dead (cooked) foods. Does anyone have any experience eating fruit or taking plant-based enzymes until 12pm, while trying to tackle Candida? Does it do any good to take enzymes when you haven't eaten anything or would it be better to fast to give our digestive system a break & let it heal on its own? Since 12/15/08, I healed more when I avoided fruit & nuts, in addition to all the other SCD/CED illegals. I want to find out which of the nuts & produce that I purchase from the grocery store (Trader Joe's) are pasteurized or irradiated, because it was my understanding that I was making healthy choices...*sigh*...we do buy organics. Fortunately, our farmers are starting a CSA this year! Also, when introducing lacto-fermented foods, why do they upset your insides when eating a normal portion? Is this an indication of toxicity levels? Good & bad bacteria & yeast competing for space? I ate sauerkraut (cabbage, water, salt) recently & it didn't go over well (bloating & gas) & that's not the first time I experienced that. Sauerkraut is good for digestion, which is why I added it to my broth soup, but I guess I added too much. I made fermented veggies (salsa with tomatoes for my family & without tomatoes for me) this week & was going to taste some soon. I used the Nourishing Traditions recipe that includes sea salt & whey. Should I start slowly with fermented veggies, just as I should do with yogurt? Speaking of whey, what is the difference between whey that forms after 8 vs 24 hours of yogurt fermentation? I understand that the lactose & casein are broken down after 24 hours. How does that affect using whey to ferment veggies, grains, & legumes (the latter 2 for my family)? Thanks for your insight!
