Newbie! Diet and Prednisone together?

I just wanted to introduce myself. I have had Crohn's Disease for 10 years and

have failed ALL of the medicines out there. Last appt (3 weeks ago - during my

third Remicade infusion, mind you) they told me I would either have to have an

ileostomy with colostomy bag or try the clinical trials --- which was a complete

and utter shock to me since surgery was never mentioned to me all (let alone a

bag!) Needless to say, I am looking at everything else out there, including SCD

Diet and LDN, etc.

After pulling out the Breaking the Viscious Cycle book from my dusty shelves

(yes, I've had it for 10 years), I have now psyched myself up to start it. I

ordered the yogurt maker and plan to make the chicken soup this weekend and

begin the intro diet.

My key question is this: I am currently on 40mg Prednisone and due to start

tapering by 5mg every week. How will I know what foods are agreeing with me or

not agreeing with me if I am introducing new foods while tapering down on the

Pred? Also, I've only been on the Pred for about a week now and a feel a bit

better, but not much. Is it a good time to start this diet? I just want to make

sure I do it right. I hope I'm not babbling. Just looking for answers and hope.

Does anyone have any advice?

Oh, and success stories would be wonderful too : )

Welcome Debbie! There is no better day to start SCD than today. I was on 60 mg of prednisone when I started and I had immediate success. Because of the prednisone you may be tempted to rush through the stages faster than you should (I did) but that is not recommended. Keep a food journal. Even on the pred you will notice a difference if you eat something you can't tolerate. Don't wait another minute and happy eating!!
