Guest guest
I have not felt any kind of pain from my small bowel in months and months. Miraculously this and the anal abscess I had were THE two things to first disappear for me when I started the diet. This was a blessing and kept me hopping along. I have intro'd yogurt again. Been doing well with it. I get tired, body discomfort but beautiful BM's and I can totaly function. I have some die-off but nothing like the hell I would go through with intestinal spasms that I did begining the diet (that's gotta be improvement right there!!) Some days though I feel the kinks in my small bowel the ileum, groin area and ilocecal valve return. Boy did I not miss that panging and twisting. How quick am I to forget how friggen miserable it is. I just wanted to point out that the Yogurt is such a powerful thing and it is integral to our healing process. I just always feel that I get " stronger " with the yogurt. Amazing that my small bowel reacts this way after all of this time. Jodi
Guest guest
Hi Jody! I'm in SCD from 4 weeks. I have stenosys in ileocecal valve and near anus. I think that my problems are like your (past?) problems. What's exactly your diet in beginning of SCD? My problem is stenosys at first Thank you! Guest guest
Hi Piero, Welcome to BTVC-SCD! I am still dealing with scar tissue and stricturing. I just found out how bad it is with a small bowel series that I did. I thought I only have one site of narrowing but I have a couple of more. I will know more about this on Monday after my colonoscopy. The situation with the narrowing has only gotten better with the SCD. I used to be in agony 24/7! Never understood why I felt like my insides were tearing and spasming after toasted Ezikiel Bread (I ate that for YEARS!!) I still struggle with it- but the small bowel ones got A LOT better!! I had a very rough time in the begining of the diet and my diet is still quite limited. Elaine said some of us with extensive scar tissue/narrowing still need surgery to have a fresh start. But, I have gotten many off-list emails over the past few weeks of people telling me that they also had extensive narrowing/scar tissue and the diet totally helped them. So it is very individual. I have had to restart the diet with gradually introducing foods about 4 times. Each time some key components changed. But I found what worked for me during these different intro phases; Chicken from the soup Pureed Zucchinis Beef and Bison Patties Broiled Salmon Home-made juice either apple or pear A while later I was able to eat broccoli and butternut squash with Ghee. Once I discovered Ghee it was awesome! As it is delicious and super yummy.. Then eggs and some coconut oil. My Diet is different now because I cannot eat fats due to Pancreas issues. But in general what I mentioned above really worked for me. I found store bought juice to really hold me back. I strain my juice really well and dilute significantly. My Omega juicer really changed my life. Carrots made me sick and still aren't the most tolerable veggie for me. Same goes for the actual soups etc. I use sea salt a lot. And Extra Virgin Olive Oil. HTH and feel better soon!! Jodi Ohh and I found with narrowing it is very very important to proceed VERY slowly with nuts and nut flours. Slow and steady!! It is easier said than done! I know.. LOL.
