Guest guest
Effie/Fran: I'm think I'm confused. Fran, are you the same Fran that is also known as " Frab? " The same Fran I wrote to about belly shrinkage post-myo (Message 32423). Anyway, to address the question about uterine shrinkage post-myo--I have to TWO answers for that. WHICH answer do you want?! ;- ) The first is the answer my gyno provided me BEFORE the surgery. The other is the answer my provided AFTER my surgery. So, again, I ask--which answer do you want?!!! ; -) My experience with ALL THE GYNOS I have ever known is that they are essentially no different than politicians. They seem to change their answers on an ongoing basis. Anyway, prior to surgery, my doctor said, the post-myo uterus would be like a slightly stretched-out sweater. That it will always a bit bigger than it was prior to having fibroids. Of course, bear in mind that the uterus of a woman who has ever been PREGNANT is also ALWAYS going to be permanently larger than her " never-pregnant counterpart. " But, the gyno said to me preoperatively that the " post-myo uterus size " would be somewhat larger (in the 10-week size range), but still only slightly larger than normal. After my surgery, I was surprised to hear my gyno then reverse that opinion and tell me " You now have a normal-sized uterus! " TA-DA!!!!! Of course, getting ANY information out of this doctor practically required me to get a court order! " His Excellency, " (aka my Gyno) was always so extremely busy. Communication with the patient was his very LOWEST priority. He was loathe to listen and he dispensed as little information as he possibly could. As to my uterus being " misshapen " ... I guess I won't know until I see it on follow-up ultrasound. However, it can't be ANY MORE misshapen than it was pre-myo, or worse, pre-UAE! Since I won't be entering my uterus in a beauty pageant any time soon, I'm not too concerned about its actual shape!!!!! It's not so misshapen as to not do its " menstruating thing " . I've had THREE post-myo periods. All arriving punctually on Day 28 of my cycle. Also, to note-I have to believe my uterus will CONTINUE to diminish in size--somewhat. My true post-myo uterine size can be judged when whatever post-operative uterine swelling I have (however minuscule that is, at this point) subsides completely. Just my opinion. No authoritative information available from " His Excellency " on this matter. Hope this helps. -Roma > Fran wrote: > * Can we be guaranteed a shrinkage from the myo or would we be left > with a bulging misshapen uterus anyway???
