Guest guest
Here is my experience: ( sorry for the running at the mouth, but it's complicated. But maybe someone can get something out of it.) Before starting hc I had trouble falling asleep, often woke around 3-4 AM and could not get back to sleep for hours, also woke after 8 hours of " sleep " feeling in a total fatigued fog. Initially I took 5 mg hc every four hours from the time of waking to a total of 20 mg per day. Initially this helped everything. BUT, all three returned at different times. I started taking an extra 2.5 mg before bed. This helped to fall asleep. For a while it helped the 3-4 AM stuff which then turned into a 5-6 AM thing, regardless, so I started taking another 2.5 mg then. This would cause me to go right back to sleep and feel very refreshed upon waking. Better than ever. So I was at a total of 25 mg a day. But during that time I also started taking a bit of thyroid before bed for the restless uncomfortable body thing, you know? That caused me to sleep like a log better than anything. I weaned off the nighttime hc and just take a bit of T3 before bed. I fall asleep readily and sleep very soundly. Often I do not wake up even once during the night. It's sort of an unbelievable feeling to wake up and see daylight already there! I feel refreshed when I wake. ( good sleep ) Now I am taking 7.5 mg hc first thing in the morning instead of 5 mg to simulate normal cycles better. I want to come down from the 22.5 total for the day eventually, but I want to cut the 2.5 mg off the PM dose to replicate natural levels better. I have no idea when I will be able to decrease beyond that. There have been a few days where I have needed to go back up to 25 mg with feeling weakness or the " chest-thing " . Roxanna North Star German Shepherd Dog Rescue Inc northstargsdr@... www.northstargsdr.org High cortisol at night >So I am confused.... > Do you support the adrenals when the cortisol is high or low? Both. If cortisol is too high at night, there are some folks who will take cortisone in the morning to retrain the body to NOT to produce so much at night. Don't know if it works---maybe someone here can report if it worked for them. Jaine

Guest guest
What you are describing already has a name, Restless Leg Syndrome, and it is very common in people with both hypo and hyper thyroid. Guest guest
Hi Val, How is the tooth today? Lymph nodes? Fever? I heard on here from many about RLS. That was why I dared to try T3 for better sleep. It works! Guest guest
Tooth is better, fever down and so are the Lymph nodes, but they are still tender. I am achy still so it isn;t all the way gone yet, and I am drinking with a straw and being VERY careful what I eat.. that's what usually gets me into trouble with this lack of teeth anyway.. Crackers or even carrots can cut my mouth up pretty badly, but if I am wanting what I am eating bad enough, I don;t notice the rawness of my gums till the damage is done. Even toast can do me in and forget English Muffins which I LOVE!!! Artistic Grooming * Hurricane, WV

Guest guest
Roxanna, can you explain why the T3 helps with sleep? Does it help you stay asleep, or go to sleep?
