I consider myself somewhat an expert on frozen dinners after living on then

about 70% of the time for 4 years. I use a lot of Marie Callendar dinners and

pot pies. They are the best I have found.

They have both grilled chicken and fried chicken with corn on the cob and the

best grave I have eaten in a box. They have pork chop, beef marinade tips,

turkey and dressing, stew, They are different in that they will have some

seasoning that has a good taste. They have cranberries in their green beans,

just little touches like that make a big difference. There are about 12 dinner

choices and 3 pot pies. The pot pies are nothing like the regular ones you can

see the meat and veggies.

They also have great PIES, yes the forbidden, but the razzleberry is so yummy.

I tried meals on wheels and they were nasty, came at 11 am before I was alive

for the day and had broccoli, cauliflower or Brussels sprouts every day. Now I

like them but not when they have been in a box shut up for an hour, everything

in there tastes like them and the smell was not good.

If I cook it is a roast or turkey, I can stick in the oven and not do anything

to till it is done. Then I can eat on that a few days, the small turkey breasts

are good for me as I can't lift much weight.

What do you think is the best kind of sandwich meat...health wise? I

have diabetes and high blood pressure.

Since meat doesn't have any carbs, you can really eat any kind of

meat/chicken/turkey/fish you want without much effect on your BGs.

Hi Darrell

Be careful of processed meats from the deli (chicken loaf, berliner,

devon, salami etc)- they can be full of carbs or lots of saturated fat

or both, so can meatloaf depending on the recipe.

As Vicki indicated, stick to lean cold cuts of any roast meat

(chicken, pork, beef, turkey), or corn beef or ham etc. or fish.

It's equally important to be careful of the bread you use for the

sandwich - both in type and portion size. Best to use your meter to

test between 60 and 90 minutes after you eat to see the result in your

BGs. If it was high, then throw the top piece of bread in the bin next

time.

Cheers Alan, T2, Australia.
