Folks,

I think I'm going to have to request a reduction in the

" speculation " because it is clear from the off-list emails I'm

getting that it is seriously confusing newcomers and not-so-newcomers.

With my Mom still seriously ill, I don't have time to go through and

answer all the comments and observations in terms of SCD the way I would

like to.

FACT: we humans have lots of bacteria in our guts.

FACT: Science is only just beginning to understand what a few of them

do.

FACT: Elaine chose s. thermophilus, l. bulgaricus, and L. acidophilus

(and later l. caseii) for our SCD yogurt because they are well-studied,

and she knew that, unlike bifidus strains, they were unlikely to

overgrow.

FACT: WE know SCD works. While it's intriguing to speculate on the WHY

from time to time, we are primarily focused on the implementation of SCD

in our daily lives.

Like I said, I'm not forbidding discussion of this nature. I'm just

asking that you all be careful of how you phrase things so that you do

not confuse new folk who are still trying to wrap their heads around the

complexities of SCD.

I understand the focus of this

learn and discuss the actual science behind it too. I think it adds to

the support overall, but I will be careful not to be confusing to

others.

Right... that's why I don't ban these kinds of discussions, even though

the focus is primarily on the implementation of SCD in our daily

lives.

I questioned and tested many aspects of SCD in my first year, typically

learning that, even if I didn't understand WHY, Elaine was usually right.

She was still alive then, and bless her, never handed me " I told you

so! " but kindly explained the why as she knew it.

I don't have her 40 years of experience, but I'm open to learning new

things.
