Guest guest
Hi , Where do you live when you're not in NYC? I live in CT, not too far away. She is the only "vulvar" specialist I saw in NYC. Her protocol is: everyone goes on 1 week of Tequin and Diflucan to kill all bugs. Then once all flora is blasted she aims to attract the good bacteria by creating the right environment which can be done in 2 ways : estrogen or boric acid. My skin was too eroded for boric acid so she gave me Vagifem and then when that didn't work - oral estrogen. Estrogen is the worst thing for endo which I have as well as pelvic vascular disorder. Thus my pain got worse and worse until I needed nmorphine from the ER. SHe just said this was all she could offer. Nightmare. I think at this point you are MUCH better off looking at the holistic approach. That is what I am doing at the FFC. They have discovered Lyme, HHV6, epstein Barr and a whole bunch of blood abnormalities that go along with the toxin/leaky gut theory that is caused by these bugs. The vag flora can not exist in a vacuum. The whole body has to be healthy for the flora to come back. I definitely think you are on the right track. I also saw Pam Morisson for PT and didn't get anywhere as well as Dr. Glazer. I think at this point my problem is systemic and not just one that could be fixed completely by muscular work. Perhaps Dr. Peacocke has changed her approach. I saw her last in 2003. But , ehtough she seemed nice, it was yet anotgher bad experience for me b/c of her inflexibility. PLease write back if you have more questions! Good luck! Love, Sandi
Guest guest
Hi: Isn't Peacocke the one who tells everyone that they are deficient in Vitamin D? Guest guest
Hi, I've been seeing Dr. Peacocke for over a year. She told me I had a vitamin D deficiency due to years of being on low-estogen birth control. She put me on high doses of vitamin D and it actually did seem to help for a few months. Then I got a bacterial infection and used Cleocin, which always helps and it went away. But from then on, all my symptoms came back (itch, some discharge, sometimes an odor). Dr. Peacocke just kept telling me to stick with the vit. D. It's been over a year and my symptoms are STILL NOT gone. I have an appointment with her in a couple of months, but honestly, I think I'm going to cancel it. I don't know how she could think something could be working when I'm over a year into treatment and I'm basically almost as bad as day 1 (although there definitely is less discharge and a little less itch, but it's still there for sure). Just wanted to let you know since you asked about her. And yes, I think she's really insistent on what she thinks is wrong with her patients, but it does seem to be a one size fits all type of thing. Hope this helps a bit. -lisa > > Sandi, > > I read in your posting that you went to see Dr. Peacocke. I'm in New York > right now and an internist told me about her earlier this year. Guest guest
Hi , When I saw Dr. Peacocke 3 years ago her big treatment was to first give everyone Tequin and Diflucan to obliterate the flora and then rebuild it again by either one of two methods - estrogen or boric acid. According to her my skin was too eroded and pitted for boric acid so I took estrogen. I have endo and vascular problems and estrogen is bad for both. She said that is all I should do. The pain increased 10 fold until I was in the ER begging for morphine. She said that the estrogen was my only hope. HELLO- it's not working. I need a plan B. She had no plan B. Personally, I think wholistic is the way to go. We need someone to look at the complete picture and traditional medicine just doesn't do that well. I think a combination of traditional, alternative, diet, PT and things like that are what is needed for the difficult cases. SOme women are lucky...they just need one thing like the estrogen cream. I wish that was me. In NYC I saw Dr. Peacocke, Dr. Ledger, Dr. Glazer for biofeedback, Dr. Solitar - rheumatologist for guai protocol, Pam on PT and now Beyond Basics PT. Nazneen at Beyond Basics really wants me to see Dr. Coady. But I have already seen over 100 doctors - including many experts. Nazneen thinks I could have Lichens b/c my skin has this white plaque. But I have seen vulvar dermatologists and had biopsies and nothing shows up. So I am not going to see yet another gyn. Has anyone else seen Dr. Coady?
