Guest guest
My name is Shirley and I don't post often, but read all posts. I was wondering why you are taking Arimidex is you are still getting your menses? I will start taking it in about 3 weeks, but my onc said that is what they give to women who are post menaposal. Guest guest
Hello everyone! Went to onc PA yesterday and I think he has finally answered my question re: libido. I'M IN MENOPAUSE. I have all the signs, except hot flashes (which I had off and on several years ago but have been gone for over a year). I had seen this PA once before when I first went to my onc and I liked him. We share a love of golden retrievers. But he hit the nail on the head when he started listing the symptoms or menopause. He said it was brought on early by the chemo but that I'm still at the right age. Because of the breast CA, I cannot have any type of hormone therapy. So now my question is: Is there passion after menopause? And how long does this stage of my life last? --------------------------------- Get your email and more, right on the new Yahoo.com
Guest guest
Hello Kathy, Yes, there is sex after menopause it just takes longer. I use ky jelly and sometimes we have fun by surprizing each other with different ways. You have to be more creative that is for sure. Especially if you have been married for a long time. I have a new boyfriend so you know what that is like in the first six months. But don't give up- It is a very important part of any intimate relationship. Do you ever watch a program on the Oxygen channel? I think she is Susie Talk Sex? She answers alot of the same questions. Sharon Kathy VanZant wrote: Hello everyone! Guest guest
a few weeks ago, when i first started taxotere/herceptin, the nurse asked me " did you take your decadron last noght? " I said " no " . " why " ??? " because no one told me to " I said-- So she went to tell the onc., who told her to give me both doses through the port. She told me to tell her if I " felt anything " ... and I called her over...I was AROUSED. Sexually AROUSED...and it was so uncomortable because there I was sitting in a lay=z=boy in the chemo suite... the nurse told me that " sometime that happen es when we have to give a double dose... " Mind you, I don't mind being aroused; or knowing that I can be...in the chemo suite, though, it's kjust too wierd... Guest guest
Marisa, God bless you, I never heard of that side effect, but I'm glad you mentioned it. Ellen you are so funny. The decadron is really needed prior to Taxotere to prevent swelling or fluid in the lungs. It is used for other chemo treatments to make the anti-nausea medication stronger. Sometimes, we bad nurses, if we can't get a great blood return on a port will do a " decadron test. " That means we inject the decadron quickly straight push by itself. If you get the side effect of feeling like you're sitting on a pile of fire ants, that means the port tubing is still in the vein and it should be safe to inject the chemo. When a port does not give a good blood return, there is a risk that the tubing has wandered and it is no longer in a big vein where it is safe to dilute a dose of chemo. The decadron pills are the only FDA approved way of taking the med prior to Taxotere infusions. However, practice is otherwise for convenience and seems to work for the most part. It's just that the studies have not been documented to prove that IV dosing just prior to Taxotere infusion is acceptable. If you do take the pills, try to take with some crackers or food, steroids are hard on the stomach. We hate the pills because it forces people to get up at odd hours of the night to take them. Have fun! Rhonda Ellen wrote: Marisa - Shhhhhhhhh If my dh hears about this decadron, he'll be breaking into CVS to get some tonight. LOL Never heard of that side effect.
