Guest guest
Matt, I know I've asked before, but have you tried seeing a chiropractor? Another three drugs to try are depacote, imitrex,or maybe even a beta-blocker. Several members of my family, representing three generations were/are plagued with migraines. Oddly, only my mother used my husband's services (he's a licensed chiropractor, but gave up practicing full time in order to teach and coach and get awesome health insurance. Good thing, now that I have to have that pesky little liver transplant which I just found out will run somewhere in the area of half a million. I had no idea. Luckily my policy has a five mil cap, and I have at least half left on it )I don't suffer from migraines, but do get the " sarc " headache in the back of my head, which he can make go away for a day with an incredible combination cervical adjustment and some way that he literally pulls my skull up, relieving the pressure where the spinal column enters the brain or something like that. That way, when he makes his adjustment, and I admit it takes complete relaxation and complete trust, so he can't do this kind of combination on many people -- they just can't get loose enough-- anyway, when he makes the spinal adjustment, I can just feel everything going back to the way it should be. That's why I always tell people that Medicine is an Art but Chiropractic is a Science, and my husband, lucky for me, is a certified (he did his internship after attending Palmer) " neck man " . The other thing he does for me is just helping me with plain old " bed neck " since I'm in the fetal position so much, it's likely I just get out of whack after a bit, ,just like every one. Lucky for me, I can just ask my hubby to give me a tune up before he goes to work and I'm as good as new. But there I go again! somehow whenever I write a post trying to help someone, I end up talking about myself. It's a bad social habit and one I am trying to break with all my will. Please accept my heartfelt apologies. I sure hope you find something soon. you might revisit something you didn't think worked and think about just upping the dosage. My mom is pleased as punch that I bugged her enough to finally get her to try topomax. she started out at 15 mg twice a day, and she doesn't have all the rules she had with the imitrez which worked, but she could only take so many and then back off again, so she had to suffer a couple of days, etc. And at her starting dose she can go up quite a bit ( she's on 30 mg per day and I'm on 200 mg per day, which is the ceiling). One last thing. I have been enjoying your posts to the other members. They are helpful and to the point, while being sincere and not too wordy as mine always are. I wish I had that talent. Con gratulations for doing such a good job -- please do as much of it as you can-- sorry to say, but for a disease that strikes just a bit more males than females, we've rarely had more than four or five men posting regularly, or irregularly for that matter. I've had my theories, but none that would explain the disparity that large. Maybe you could give us your view point, not speaking for all males, but just for the one you are. Hope some of this information helped, and hope your head stops hurting,
